So, the Christmas Gig: I have booked a hotel for the Friday and Saturday nights and planning to make a Sheffield weekend of it - I think some friends will be doing the same but we could have board drinks if anyone else has the same plan, or maybe board breakfast on Sunday before people set off home?

It's a long time since I was in Sheffield for anything other than work, and the last time was on a Pulp Weekend with an ex. We did what were at the time the most obvious sites, and I'd like to do some different but Pulp-related stuff.

Last time from what I can remember we did: The Wicker, West Street, The Leadmill, Park Hill, Intake, Stanhope Road. Also Meadowhall and the Millennium Gallery.

Ideas for this time: Forge Dam, The Washington, Steelworks/Fon. As you can see, not an utterly inspiring list as yet... Oh, and Jumbo Chinese, obviously.

Was at the Washington last month when I spent a weekend with mates. It's hardly changed, though I think the beer has improved. It's still open late. We were also staying in town so we went to the Leadmill, which was great fun. First time clubbing for years. Might be worth checking out the Irish pub Richard Hawley hangs out near the Cathedral. I think it might be called Fitzgeralds but don't quote me on that. What about Weston Park?

Fagan's is Hawley's haunt.

Thanks team, options noted. Tangent: I'm not booked in for breakfast at my hotel, any locals know where's good for a fry up (veggie so more bothered about the hash browns/chips/eggs than the bacon)?
