I'm waiting until payday to chuck a few quid into the pot. It looks as though we will have a message board with adverts rather soon but the bill looks a bit scary now. Personally, I think this place is worth a small donation every few months. Hopefully Steve won't have to pay a huge bill if we can all help out a bit?
It says at the bottom of the main page "This forum currently has a credit of $-234.70", which is around £150 I think. From what I remember active board advertise what seem like reasonable plans but then hit you with over usage fees. Hopefully I'm getting a higher paying job this week so I can part with a few quid then :)

Given most of the views aren't proper views just bots, Sparklit should give a refund.
I don't believe that there are 159 genuine viewers in the last 24 hours. I admin another sparklit forum (with ads) and that has 130 viewers in the last 24 hours but only 10 logged in. Even with a few lurkers I doubt they'd make it up to 30/day, never mind 130/day.
Using google analytics I know anything from inktomi corporation and ip pools is a bot as they account for a third of the traffic on my sites and another 50% is from other hidden bots, so only about 15% of my traffic is genuine.
Wouldn't surprise me if sparklit generate the traffic!
It is possible to block bots from a website but since I'm not entirely sure what kind of customisation you have access to with message boards so I'm not sure if it's possible. Can you edit the HTML of themes? Though I suspect the only way you could block bots on message board would also result in blocking search engines, which you may or may not want.
I thought the general consensus last time this came up was to accept ads. I don't really mind myself, this is not a complaint or anything and I'm happy to go on contributing, I'm just a bit confused. I was just under the impression that the last hat to be passed round was meant to be the last one and we were to ignore the demands for money thereafter. Or is it that no-one can actually manage to contact the forum provider to get it changed?
