Not officially confirmed yet, but Pulp is playing this year's Les Inrocks festival on the 13th of November. It'll be in the legendary Olympia venue, in Paris of course.
Yeah Eamonn, sorry about that. I mean i went to Hyde Park last year, but it's always nice to see them in a smaller (indoor) venue, something i have never experienced...
Indeed you could! This French date does seem odd, not straight before they go to South America, so I'm assuming there'll be one or two more dates before they go. I don't understand why they haven't broadened themselves out UK wise. I think if any pre-Sheffield dates were announced they'd have been by now
I guess with the Sheff show being a huge arena gig they probably figured they could cram in most misfits between Norwich and Newcastle. That it sold out in two seconds flat suggests they were correct.
Numbers-wise it would be the same as playing what, half a dozen mid-sized Academy/Corn Exchange/Barrowlands etc. venues, right? Which would be more than half of a UK tour back when they were promoting albums (arena tours excluded of course).

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong it makes more sense to do one Arena gig than a small UK tour, I don't think that was ever on the cards anyway. Just surprised once Sheffield sold out they didn't set up one or two smaller gigs in other parts of the country!
"....ukHMmm" (clears throat); "this is a song off our first record... most people don't own it..." (strums a bar, twinkly piano kicks up); "...When I was with... this girl last night... she held me tight..."

just bought 2 tickets. It was quite difficult to order (fnac website said the event was unavailable, fnac phone assistance said it was sold out ! I finally found them on the Olympa website, lucky moment as it was sold out, 2 minutes later ...
Desperate frenchman, living in paris, looking for 2 tickets for the show....if a good soul has something forme, I'd looove to join those lucky common people :o).
For two i meant. I remember a time when going out to gigs wasn't like having to sell a kidney. It was not that long ago. But Pulp isn't the most expensive, so i'm glad they managed to keep it as low as possible, for such a venue.
It sold out in 3 minutes yeah

It's 1772 to 1996, i guess it will be unseated so 1996. But it's an historic venue now owned by Vivendi, so it's always a little more expensive than independant venues with the same capactiy. Madonna recently charged 100 euros for one ticket there (they were the cheapest). The fact that it's a "festival" also adds to the price i guess.
How much were the sheffield ones ?
