The Wurzels are beyond Britpop, they are a national treasure. They belong at Tussaud next to Britpop Jarvis (is he still there anyway ? I only saw him in picadilly)
I was just listening to The Wurzels 'Never Mind The Bullocks' album earlier. It is the best work of comedy committed to tape ever! I discovered it a couple of years ago & their follow up contains the 2nd best cover of 'Common People' I have ever heard. I honestly nearly wee wee myself laughing at the whole album every time I listen. The Wurzels do proper songs too - listen to 'Ferry To Glastonbury' & you will see they put the west country accent on for comic affect. I love their cover of 'Your Gorgeous'. They make it sound dirty & sordid. It's very very funny!
If you were wondering... You probably weren't, my 1st favorite 'Common People' cover is Brett Domino, when he just gets up the the big bit where the song kicks off to play the same 3 chords again but louder and they stop & he says, "and that's as far as we got with that one". Genius!
