I suspect that opinion on We Can Dance Again will be split between those who first encountered it as a rough but brilliant live bootleg track and those who first heard it as a shoddy, disappointing demo.
I've only ever heard the demo of We Can Dance Again from the Different Class deluxe edition and it's easily in my top 5 Pulp songs of all time. I actually didn't know they had played it live until reading this thread.
Nah, it's the best non-mawkish love song ever. Webber's lead guitar line tops it off lovely.
I don't have anything to add to this. Apart from maybe Fred's observation that this love song sings about love in an entirely unique - and very non-ordinary - way!

Finally someone that makes sense ! i thought i was the only one
This song just screams hit, not only hit but classic. Biggest mistake ever.
Something Changed is one of my favourite Pulp songs, the lyrics are brilliant and that song means a lot to me. I can see why some people wouldn't be fans though
I go through phases of really liking Something Changed and then disliking it. I think it depends on how bitter and cynical my view of love is at the time.
"Why live in the world when you can live in your head?" is a great lyric.
I remember having that lyric scribbled over my text books at school...you know instead of wall paper (first home work of senior school 'back your books' with anything...wall paper seemed a favourite!?!)
Re: something changed....I don't know, It just inst Pulp to me, its a wishy-washy version of pulp..kinda diluted. It could never be a love song to me (and I've had a couple of exs that have tried to change my mind) it has always left me with a 'hmm yeah...' feeling since it was released, and i was young teenager then. I tend to skip it when it comes on. Sorry.
Arr(gh)Gee... seriously ? While the riff is reminiscent of Gloria, the melody isn't. Many many artists use riff from other songs, i don't consider that a rip of as long as it's done with class, which is the case here. It's more of a nod to the Disco years, coz many songs had that kinda riff, even used in the 80s. And even, when you listen to the songs back to back, it's not THAT similar. Disco 2000 riff is much more intense.
As for the lyrics : the "Deborah.. Deboraaah" is just great, and i love the fact that Jarvis always put some weird lyrics like the "never suited ya". It really put the character in perspective. In 3 words You can imagine all sort of stuff behind that lyrics : was it because she was dumb, ugly, a smart ass... etc
Well i guess my fight is a war already lost on this board. You all hate pop songs i get that.

Attached a poll to get a better overall picture, but Disco 2000 is pretty poor.
Your name was Deborah, it never suited ya is the worst rhyme ever, and the song is just a rip of Gloria and that was rubbish as well. I always skip it along with misshapes.

I agree completely :)
Regarding remastering...was the 2006 one not good enough? I honestly don't know, my ear isn't tuned enough to spot the little nuances.
I find having to choose between songs very traumatic, I want to pick no bad songs but my husband was giving me grief for that and said I had to pick something, so I had to go with Live Bed Show. But as Violin Thing points out, it is all relative.

I'm gonna say Sorted; I enjoy the song, but the synth loop and the acoustic guitar just dont work together AT ALL. I always felt like that and F.E.E.L.I.N.G. were last minute attempts to put more seperations-esque dance songs into the final mix, to varying degrees of success. It would have made a good acoustic ballad or dance track, but not both.
Monday Morning has always been one of my personal favorites; the unlikely ska riffs, Russell rocking out on lead guitar and Jarvis just screaming his head off on that last verse give me chills. Something Changed was good, but maybe too conventional and singer songwriter-y, which seemed to bore the others. Ditto for 'A Little Soul' with which I know Mark couldnt stand...
All in all I don't think there's any BAD songs on the album, it's arguably their most solid effort all around, I think you really have to dig close to find little pet peeves or flaws.
