Just been shouting along to the above mentioned bootleg on my way to work this morning. Absolutely amazing set. It's been my favourite bootleg for many years and better and better copies just keep turning up. Which is nice.
Is this anyone else's favourite? To my ears, it's when Pulp first become truly awesome. Helped, of course, by the radio-broadcast quality of the recording. Really great, scratchy guitar from Russell, unusually loud keyboards, throbbing, driving bass and Jarvis on absolutely top form.
Coming soon, of course, to a Portfolio near you. But I'm fairly sure it's already been circulated pretty heavily by this point!
It's shortish...but it is in French. Someone should translate Jarvis' French from the gig.
(In tape form) this one of the earliest Pulp bootlegs I got and I had it during my first year at Uni back in '98/'99. I had a walkman then too of course and it used to often accompany me on late night solitary walks around the North Wales coast. Sociably bugger that I was.
Ah yes, it was pretty much the first Pulp bootleg I got too - bought it from Giraffe Audio / Video in late '95, early '96 with the '92 Black Session on the other side. Wonderful stuff (although it'd be even better if Jarvis had written some words to She's a Lady at this point).

Really looking forward to this. I'm new to all these bootlegs but became addicted to the Portfolios, and have been excited about getting to this era for months. My new laptop is here so I'm going to get up to speed with the last few portfolios over the next week. I remember reading somewhere that you were going to stop around 94-time, is that correct?
I was half thinking about stopping with the first gig at which they play 'Common People', but I'm not sure at this juncture. It'll be another year or so of work to even get that far, and I don't want to tie myself down either way.
'91 is indeed a good era and there might well be a couple of surprises along the way. I'm not quite sure how many of the '91 gigs have circulated widely before now, but I hope there's at least a couple that I have that haven't yet been heard...
I only have three tracks of this - Space, Death II and Little Girl (With Blue Eyes) - so if the portfolio has more I'm excited to hear it. Certainly it's the best Death II bootleg in my collection.
Here's the link to the complete collection... though I haven't updated it for the extra 12 seconds! I'll wait til a few minutes worth of new material has been added before uploading it all again!!
