I know of nothing more either. I didn't even know there were two versions of Death comes to town!! Just went to read on Pulpwiki after reading you mentioning it here.
i think that pretty much covers it Stephen. I'd love to hear 'The Demo' from '89 & the day that never happened show (if only the audio) Apart from the usual suspects i wonder if these bits will ever surface from someone? And i would suggest that Mr.Webber very probably has other recordings from these missing years?????
It is pretty much a certainty that Mr. Webber has a lot of these things, yes! I do now have knowledge of a Pulpy recording being available from these 'missing years' that should help to plug a gap, but haven't got my grubby hands on it yet. I'll delay this Portfolio 'til I know either way.
I think I know what you're referring to, but wouldn't want to blow your exclusive!
Other than that, yes I think 1988 is very much a lost year in terms of recordings. The band will have stuff in their archive (eg there is definitely audio as well as video from The Day That Never Happened), but we won't be hearing that anytime soon!

Question for Mark: are you likely to be writing a 'revised and expanded' edition of T&B once this is all over? And do recent sales patterns have anything interesting to tell us about the reunion?
Chob. Sales patterns most likely affected moreso by book being out of print. Well done publishers! And yes Mark, it is what yr thinking. Fingers crossed eh? Finally, Day never Happened. Especially if it's as bad as everyone says, we definitely won,t be seeing it! Pulp do maintain quite high quality control. Furthermore re: filmed gigs existing, clock Webbo with his cine cam at the Limit 87 gig. All this still exists and the portfolios are merely a drop in the ocean!
Excited to see what this new thing is. Since the bulk of this period consisted of Jarvis / Steve studying film down in that London any extra material might come from there. What that would mean is frankly anyone's guess, and since this isn't the video portfolio it may be nothing much anyway, but, well, who knows?

Realistically, I don't think a new edition is going to happen.
And as for recent sales patterns, it's been out of print for a couple of years now. Yeah, well done Omnibus...

Aaah, except it's not a cine cam, it's a little projector.
However, Mr Havenhand once told me there was some camcorder footage of one of the Limit gigs at one time - never really got anywhere with tracking it down though.

I would love a video portfolio! Any ideas? Mark, I had the same convo with H'hand. Wasn't the footage with someone's boyfriend who was of unknown name?
As there'll be a short wait before the next instalment, I've compiled all the up-to-date editions from 1-14 into one zip file and put them up on my webspace - so they won't disappear, ever.
The link is: http://tinyurl.com/coomq3z
This includes Portfolios 1 through to 14, all with complete ID3 tags and uniform song titling (the original files are mostly missing track names and album titles and the song titles change a little from gig to gig)...
Hawalius. I appreciate your efforts and thank you for making sure the project 'sticks'. I would ask two small things though...
1) Please make sure you have the most up to date version of each PPF. Check the end of each thread to make sure! Sometimes I reupload with extra bits added. 2) Please don't advertise the zip files anywhere. Whilst I'm happy with having every obsessive who frequents BA enough to catch them all being able to download them, I don't really want them going too far from source. It's far too easy these days with bands to hear a song you like one day and have the entire back catalogue the next. The PPFs are a labour of love. I know that, and you lovely lot know that too. You download them because you love them and are excited about hearing them. I'd much rather 'new fans' or casual fans make their way through the easier to find stuff first - B Sides, youtube vids etc. before eventually finding these.
Thanks for ID3 tagging the files and sorting titles out. I get lazy here. It might help if I explain how each PPF occurs.
1) Collate the tracks for various years well in advance. 2) Research and check and ask around to make sure there's nothing left out 3) Compile a tracklist 4) Put the setlist into table format and make sure the details I provide are correct. 5) Research pictures for cover. 6) Sort out cover 7) Pick a line from a song on the CD that means something. 8) Turn sleeve and back cover into jpgs 9) Organise tracklist as mp3s and ID3 tag them. 10) Zip 11) Upload 12) Stick sleeve/back cover in photobucket 13) Link you lot.
As you can see...after step 8 I get lazy. hence the poor quality ID3 tagging. I really do appreciate your efforts on it!
I hope this comes across as more grateful than churlish...
Oh I'll definitely be downloading those updated Portfolios, the only thing which sometimes puts me off listening to them is the slightly messy ID3 tagging. And Stephen, I couldn't agree more about keeping the portfolios as something for people who really 'get' the band, not for just anyone to download willy nilly, and then not listen to. This is such an excellent project. someone do a bootleg vinyl pressing!
I'm fairly sure I've got the most up-to-date versions of everything - I check the Bar board a couple of times a day so hopefully have caught all your updates, bonus tracks, etc! But of course if you spot anything missing do let me know.
That link - and indeed the files - will remain exclusive to this board, I won't be sharing or linking from anywhere else.
And whilst points 1-8 are absolutely the hard bit, I'd be happy to take over from 9-13 if you wanted to filter future releases through me! It's the icing on the cake to have the files nicely labelled and ready to put into iTunes or wherever. (I suspect most of us are keeping them as MP3 releases, rather than burning to CD).
