It does make Sheffield seem slightly less special however last years touring was ended randomly at the Electric Picnic in Ireland. I guess the best thing is that the end still isn't nigh. They surely wouldn't round off on a cruise (playing Boats and Trains?). Glastonbury 2013 would be perfect!

It's not as bad as you might think, at least in my experience...the annoyance is starting to wear off and I'm wondering now if I can actually swing one of these. Anyone on here considering going? I can't help but wonder if Pulp is as popular a headliner to induce so many people to spend that much money on this cruise. It will be interesting to hear what details emerge in the following days. Curious how many shows they will play during the course of the cruise (I would assume 3), and if they'll let us know what kind of sets to expect.
I want to go, but it's such short notice that I don't know if I'll be able to swing it. I'm sure it will sell out instantly because of the Coachella brand name, even with the astronomical cost.
Gotta say, I am not a huge fan of this development. I don't begrudge the band their chance to make some good money, but this whole rock-fest-on-a-cruise thing is a bad idea. I am far from a punk-rock purist, but this seems a step too far in the opposite direction.
I'll probably be proved wrong but I cannot see this selling out - Cochella seem to have got their audiences very confused.
I am a little disappointed - the idea of them playing Common People to a boat of people who paid more than what I live on in a year is very disheartening.
Lauren, I don't think that's necessarily fair. I've willingly paid the £200 for Glastonbury before now, and this isn't a huge amount more - the £322 amount of whatever it is. Plus, all the food's free I believe, which probably brings it in line with Glastonbury. I don't think I earn a great deal (and I used to earn even less!) but having a festival (whether in a shitty field or on a luxury liner) as your one holiday of the year is probably affordable unless you're earning something really exploitative.
I'm not trying to have a go, it's just that not everyone there is going to horrible, moneyed people...
To people disappointed: Jarvis is in the "system" now and has been for years. He's left wing corporate if that makes sense. It's his business to be the voice of the common people, although he now frequents higher classes, rich people, especially in France.
I was a bit surprised by this as well. But when you see the prices of the cheaper tickets, it's not THAT expensive, it's a cruise after all. So it's a good opportunity for people who will be able to stalk their fav artist for at least 4 days :D
So i don't mind, but i wasn't really thinking Pulp were what they used to be. They're just a music act for me now.

Apparently there's a $200 booking fee even when you buy the $500 ticket. The Weezer cruise was quite highly rated. It looks like most bands are playing twice and you can see them "at least once" which is a bit vague!
Will I get to see every band? You will certainly have the opportunity to choose to see every artist at least once. Can I see them twice? You will have the opportunity to choose to see each artist at least once. Some artists youll be able to see twice. How / Where do I sign up for my spot to see a band? That information is forthcoming closer to when we announce set times. If two bands are at same time can I see part of one and part of another? In most cases, yes. We cant guarantee this however, due to capacities in each of the venues and demand during the show. How many shows will each artist be playing? All artists will play at least once, and most artists will play twice. When is the music? Night or day? Both Music will be going from early afternoon deep into the night. When will the schedule be out? In the coming months.

@pulp2011: "Pulp set sail on the SS Coachella. Four shows on the high seas. December 2012. http://ss.coachella.com" Does that mean 4 shows per cruise, or 2 shows per cruise (4 shows total)??
The Rapture are a New York guitar band but they're just coming on board to do a DJ set?
Killer Mike, very much a rap also ran. He's had some chart success but as (I think) the only rapper there he hasn't got the dedicated fans who'll book a cruise so they can see him. He did A.D.I.D.A.S. and The Whole World with Outkast a few years back.
It just seems like an odd collection of artists. Good but odd.
