Not sure if this is fake but coachellas facebook page has announced a cruise on 19th dec headlined by pulp....

Mo money mo problems. Or decisions. As Nick said they're getting "paid handsomely" and the more novel/quirky the offer, I suppose they're likely to go for it. But yeah, if Sheff was to be the end it has now lost some sheen.

And I feel bad for Twiggy, rock-cruise veteran, and others in the US/Canada who have already spent a mint on travelling across the Atlantic for the Sheffield show.

Hmmmmmmmmm

I assumed Sheffield was gonna be it, but now I'm not so sure. This will obviously be without Russell, maybe Sheffield will be the last Pulp gig with Russell? And I know this is quite probably for the money, but if they're gonna let Pulp die after the next few months or so, then I suppose I understand them milking it...

I'm gonna say it now.... Glastonbury 2013? Ofcourse if they were to do it they'd need some kind of new material, but still!

It's on a cruise ship, I imagine that'd be for a place on the cruise ship, and the lesser priced tickets would be for individual gigs?

And surely they have to be writing new material... as much as I love them, they can't justify yet more new gigs without new material.

They COULD, definitely, and I for one would be absolutely ecstatic, but I'm not sure they'd be that much of a draw seeing as lots who wanted to see them will have seen them!

You're right though, if they do carry on they're gonna have to do new material. I did half think that even if Sheffield was the end that they'd be announced for Glasto next year. Nearly put something snide about wondering whether Glasto can still afford them following tonight's revelation though!

The "tissues optional" comment seems a liiiiiitle mean now... but on the bright side, the 'last ever' Pulp gig would surely be made accessible to fans, and therefore it would seem reasonable to expect a string of concerts in the new year. Perhaps. 

Maybe the new material everyone gave up hope on last week hasn't quite receded from view?

The varying prices are for different cabins (interior, exterior, etc). If anyone is going, try to get a cabin in the middle, you will feel the movement of the boat less. And obviously an exterior cabin with a balcony is ideal. I think I'm still going to go to Sheffield (only paid for the tickets so far, no flights or accomodations purchased) and skip the cruises.
Goddammit.

Well it certainly would explain the 5 month break from gigs if they were perfecting/working on new material!

All the comments from Jarvis/Nick etc. "no new album", maybe it's a single we're looking at? Lots less time needed to make it, they could promote it lots in the next 5 months. I don't know anymore! I was resigned to Sheffield being the finale!

I don't think Pulp could really get the attention for a single in the same way that, say, Blur did. I also don't think they'd want to put all that effort into something that would be in and out of the public eye in a couple of weeks.

Nick did seem very sure - and honest - about there being no new material on its way though...
