It seems to be the standard setlist at first, but then look at the third song. Seems that Pulp are wheeling out some of the older songs, which I for one welcome. First My Lighthouse, then Back in LA, then Little Girl (With Blue Eyes), then Dogs Are Everywhere and now this. At this rate, the Sheffield gig in December could be something really special.

Hush, keep very still, for the strangest things are about to happen.
A better set than the one in Italy the other night. Jealous! About time Seppy got more attention. I still don't get why they're not breaking out the likes of The Fear/Help The Aged/Sylvia/A Little Soul/Trees/Birds more often. They've all been rehearsed and there isn't the issue of Russell being left idle to consider anymore so what gives?
I'm actually more surprised that Don't You Want Me Anymore is being played whereas stuff from This Is Hardcore and We Love Life is being ignored, surely the former song has lots more violin that requires Russell than songs from TIH or WLL...
Is this a case of "we've hired and trained a touring violin player and want to get our money's worth"?
No because she hasn't done any shows with them since the American gigs. It's the five of them plus Leo. Making all the Russell violin-heavy songs on these recent setlists a little odd.
Well, the instrumentation sounds great, but Jarvis is doing that talk-singing thing that he did at the Le Bikini gig! He must do it when he's not feeling particularly confident with a song.
Also, I'm very very surprised at the crowd singing along so loudly, especially considering that when they played The Trees at Brixton there only seemed to be me and one other guy at the front who knew the words!
Really great though, hope they play it in Sheffield. Although to be honest, I wish they'd just get over Different Class a bit- the album tracks off that album are certainly not going to be more recognisable to casual fans than the singles (or even album tracks!) off This Is Hardcore.
Interesting, I like the instrumentation effects that try to replicate the violin a bit (obviously not as good as the real thing). Bit of a Morricone vibe to it. Was Mark on synths for this? Jarvis avoided the high-register parts during the verse but did a good job overall. Just great to hear any version of it after all this time!
I'm not sure much of the crowd knew it, just that the recording managed to pick-up the diehards at the front belting it out.
They should just do a week of album-shows once the Sheffield gig is done. They are clearly loving playing live again as Nick mentioned on that radio interview last week. They're excavating the deepest receses of their back-catalouge these days and there's a market for bands playing albums live in sequence. If they don't want to write new stuff that would be the next best thing. Seppy, Intro and TIH in full live...imagine!
