I am the worst Turkish translator there is, but can anyone tell me what this means? It sort of sounds like they played Don't You Want Me Anymore tonight at the One Love Festival, but I can only muster out 'surprise' and 'setlist' from that lot!

Somebody at the festival tweeted this...

'pulp'dan zimba baslangic guzel surpriz sarki "don't you want me anymore" separations albumunden demin gonderdigim setlist'te yazmiyordu'

If it's the case then they really are getting the old songs out and those going in December may have some surprises!

P.S Are warm-up gigs likely for the arena date? Can't see them leaving it between now and December with no show before the big 'un...

This is what I got from Google Translate:

"Starting from the punch, Pulp nice surprise song "Don't You Want Me Anymore?" from the album "Separations". We're walking just now, sending the setlist."

I filled in a few bits, but it seems like they may well have played "Don't You Want Me Anymore?". We probably won't know for sure until the setlist has been added to either Pulpwiki or Setlist.fm.

I, for one, really hope they did play it. That would mean they're starting to crawl through the back catalog. Think of what we could get next!

This gig is a bit odd at the moment... it's a stand-alone set to come at the end of a six-month period where very little happens. At least that's how it seems for the time being.

So will the set-list be a snap-shots of Pulp's career, back-to-front, like your eyes flashing before you eyes before you die... culminating in an ironically sad performance of 'Happy Endings'? Or will we instead be treated to a new dawn...a set which jumps from hit, to rarely played, to new song, and back again?

Whatever, you can guarantee it's going to be a long, unmissable show. I hope and pray it is the latter of my two theories!

I'd like to hear, more than anything:

Mile End

My Lighthouse

Cocaine Socialism

O.U.

My Legendary Girlfriend

She's a Lady

Turkey Mambo Mama

Countdown

Premiering a new song would be unbelievably brilliant, maybe that's why they have left a six-month gap so they can perfect it.... one can dream.

Anyway, another idea I had is the whole set being a journey through Pulp's career to an extent. Maybe not starting with Shakespeare Rock or anything like that, but studio album-wise. Starting with My Lighthouse and going through the albums, highly unlikely though!

My initial prediction...

Do You Remember?
Mis-Shapes
Love Is Blind
Razzmatazz
Countdown
O.U. (Gone, Gone)
Something Changed
Disco 2000
Sorted
I Spy
Birds In Your Garden
F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E
Bad Cover
Babies
Underwear
Live Bed
This Is Hardcore
Sunrise
Bar Italia
Glory Days
Common People

Encore:
Little Girl (With Blue Eyes)
Happy Endings
Wickerman

Encore 2:
My Lighthouse
My Legendary Girlfriend

26 songs!

I'm fairly sure if they've been rehearsing MLG they'll end this gig with it, as that was the last song of the Day That Never Happened. I'm pretty sure the main set will be hit-heavy, after all I suppose we forget that's the reason they became popular in the first place!

I think Love Is Blind will be the surprise of the main set, though I've probably left some songs out that should be in there.

EDIT: As you can tell, tonight has been a boring night!

Yeah, if I'd seen that 6 months ago then I'd probably have rubbished it, but there's been quite a few older songs they've been getting through lately so it's possible. If this carries on the setlist by December could potentially include classics like My Erection, Turkey Mambo Momma and Ansaphone.

On a serious note, I'd love to see the latter live!

me too, Ansaphone is a classic and you could just imagine how much fun Jarvis would have singing it in front of an audience...

I'm surprised that Ansaphone has never been played live before. I imagine it would sound great live. I can just imagine Jarvis singing it on stage, and it just fits perfectly.

Seriously...just a couple of years ago did any of us truly think we would once again ever see Jarvis jumping around the stage singing songs like "Don't You Want Me Anymore?", "His N Hers", "Countdown", "Dogs Are Everywhere" and even "Back In LA" for god's sake?? Amazing times!

Ive noticed though that Jarvis has been saying in the gigs abroad........"Hopefully we will see you again, alright?" after the final song in Mexico? Hmmm

They can't possibly justify more touring without a new album. It just has to happen, doesn't it?

This is wishful thinking, but I've got a hunch that they've already recorded half of it.

If the Sheffield gig is the first big to promote a new album, can we expect a Leadmill warm-up days before? That would allow the Leadmill to get around their issue that they can't please everyone who would want to go, without booking it for a month, for Pulp.

I don't know how much I believe they'll put out a new album, but they have plenty of time between now and Sheffield to do it so you never know.

Sylvia and Seductive Barry would be amazing for me and She's Dead and maybe Tunnel because why the hell not. Closing with The Day After The Revolution. As for a tour I think it is likely. Personally I would love to see them at The Manchester Apollo because a venue like that is really suited to them.

For me this seems really odd. This could be perceived in two ways.........the sudden announcement of a christmas gig with the statement "tissues optional" could mean thats it.......

OR

The fact that they have been selling out WORLDWIDE, they are possibly bigger now than they have ever been, huge gaps between concerts, Jarvis saying he could write more pulp songs.........

Its a tough one to call

Perhaps throw in a song from Freaks e.g. I Want You or Master of the Universe

I initially put in DYWMA, not entirely sure how that was left out! Either that or I Want You as you said would be good.

Not entirely keen on something like Fairground or Anorexic Beauty making an appearance though!

Hmm, I think taking all the website clues, Nick's comments and the relevance of the date into consideration, the chances of this being a new dawn with new material are very unlikely. It is a bit odd them playing so much Russell-era stuff rather than TIH or WLL era, but I more than welcome it as I heard all that stuff plenty back in the day. I think they're airing earlier stuff now because as we know, it did get rehearsed, but the majority of shows have been festival ones so they focused on the hits. This year they've probably thought, what the hell, we'll be gone again soon, let's get them played before the chance has gone. Remember how quite a few old tracks were played on the forest tour? I would love that idea of a career-spanning set!

I think everything is up for grabs. In my ideal world they'd leave off the DC era stuff and concentrate on other things but we must always bear in mind that they're playing the gig to 14000 people who I am sure won't all be sat their crossfingered whispering 'Coy Mistress, Coy Mistress pleeeease'.
