the worst part is just seeing a page full of overpriced tickets on eBay straight away this morning. it's just a fact of life nowadays obviously, but when the official sites are sold out nothing rubs it in more than a bunch of people selling stacks of tickets they bought simply to make money off desperate fans like 2 minutes later?!
I laughed when I saw one auction that had the option to make an offer instead of the buy it now price...with a list of rejected offers. some people had clearly tried to tug at their heartstrings and offer face value or something hoping they'd suddenly have a change of heart :P
Olympic Torch syndrome.

Could this be the opportunity we've all been waiting for the the Bar Italia tourist trail round Sheffield using saw's Wickerman photo project as a holy guidebook??

There were still a small number of standing and seated tickets left at around 10am at Record Collector in Broomhill in Sheffield today. Was on my way to try the arena having given up on the internet and phone when this was mentioned in passing on Radio Sheffield so I headed there instead and got 4 standing tickets!
There was no queue as they said nobody really knew they had any there.
Maybe try them if you are local or call them if you are not in Sheffield? Not sure if they sell over the phone but worth a try? Seats still available now (1.40pm) as I just called them! Hope this helps someone?

Did anyone try these guys? Looking through the Pulp tag on twitter earlier, a few people were saying tickets were still available there. (Also Record Collector is a great store...)
Oh, keep trying back at the Arena box office closer to the gig, I've snagged tickets a couple of weeks before a supposed sold out gig due to stage rearrangements or returned tickets.
I gotta say, im disgusted by the amount of tickets on sale on ebay yet again - I spent all morning trying without luck to get any tickets, and these bastard scumbags are charging £70 quid for ONE fucking standing ticket. They are charging more than the value of the ticket - surely this is illegal. If anyone purchased any spares, Ill be more than happy to take 2 off you.
Oh dear, oh dear. Just got in from a holiday with no access to t'internet, and with little or no Pulp news I wasn't expecting anything. Absolutely gutted, I'm fairly sure it will be their last gig, the fairytale ending etc. I know everyone says the same about the summer gigs this year but this is the big one; the hometown show everyone has been waiting for. I can't see it carrying on, especially with all the comments of them 'probably' ending this year etc.
I'm a young Pulp fan if I'm honest, not sure how many 16-year-olds are incredibly into Pulp, but I love em to pieces! No other band would make me travel to somewhere as far as Sheffield so that says a lot. I saw them at Glastonbury last year and Brixton on the 1st night also, missed out on the 90's era obviously so I've tried to see them as much as possible before they go, alas I am too late...now I pray to God for an arena tour which ends in Sheffield; even though I know a gig in Cardiff or wherever would be nothing on the one in Sheffield. Sheffield is a place which means so much to them, the Day That Never Happened gig/playing the Leadmill every other weekend in the 80's pretty much and everything else for that matter. Just the messages on the site excite me a bit to be honest!
On a positive note, well done to those who got tickets and have a hell of a lot of fun! It will be unbelievable, hopefully some rarities will pop up! If you see anyone looking bored or uninterested at the show then please tell them off for me as I would love to be in their position so much...
P.S Actually quite surprised it's at the arena, thought they might have the guts to do a few nights at the Leadmill or something!

Spoke to the Leadmill about that once on Twitter, and while they would have LOVED it, they just wouldnt have been able to meet the demands without people being pissed off. Or booking out the club for a month. It just wouldnt work. It would be lovely, but just not feasible. :(
Again, Nick mentioned doing something outdoors, but the biggest the council would authorise is 5,000 people ( the size of the arena). That, to me, was pointing to Tramlines and the main stage at Devonshire Green. Dev Greens copacity is about 5K. No other venue, city centre, would be able to hold that size of a crowd.
IMO it would been nice to do a weeks run at the City Hall. Not a bad seat in the place and the sound is amazing.

huh? I thought the arena's capacity was well over 10,000?
Just wanted to say a quick thank you to you all on this thread. I'm not on Twitter or Facebook, but had a phychic moment and searched for Bar Italia at lunchtime on the 10th - and so found out about the pre-sale. I was too late for Standing tickets, but broke all my rules and bought seated tickets! For an arena gig.
If I hadn't I would be on the train to Broomhill right now, trying to get the last tickets.

I guess the forum cant read alt codes. I'd put 1/3 symbol and it didnt show. Sorry for confusion.

haha aww I see! and i briefly got my hopes up about it being a Brixton-style affair!
I've noticed the arena's venue says doors open 6.30. Is that unusual for an arena gig? It is to me but I haven't done one for a while. Can't believe how excited I am to see them one more time. I had to miss the Brixton gigs as we were abroad and the RAH gig as our baby was too young to leave, and i didn't want my only experience of the reunion to be Glasto and Wireless, as amazing as they were. I wanted a proper gig, in the dark! I never lost faith that they'd round things up with a Sheffield gig but I was beginning to get annoyed at the wait and that NME article actually made me a bit sick of this whole air of mystery, though that's probably the NME's fault, not Jarvis.
The day before Auto I was supposed to go to our work's party and was going to ask someone out but was too ill. She's now my wife and, almost ten years to the day, we're going to finally see Pulp together! It's going to be an emotional night so if you see a grown man blubbing it'll probably be me.
Granted it's been four years since I've been to an arena gig but 6.30 is quite common. Don't forget there's 13,500 people to get in so they won't be on stage for a good hour after that.
Why is it that whenever I don't use this website for half a week or more, that period of time aligns itself perfectly with the announcement of a major UK show, the tickets going on sale, and the tickets selling out???
I'll just hope that the touts have snapped up too many again, much like for the Brixton gig.
I would like to see a government have the balls to tackle the problem of touts. It's far worse than ever now. It should be illegal to sell a concert ticket for more than it's face value + booking fee without any loopholes like charging £80 for postage or whatever.
Well, Russell presumably won't be going on the cruise....so there's that... Wildly annoyed by this news, as I can't really take a week off to go to Sheffield then go on a cruise a week later.
Liltman, I'm a minority of about one, but only 'cos it ain't feasible to get to the Sheffield gig in December. I do feel sorry for the rest of you, though. Mostly.
I have a mixed feeling about this. On the one hand it is such a bummer indeed that Sheffield isn't their last gig. Everything seemed to suggest it was, I didn't see this coming. And yes, it makes the gig slightly less interesting. But on the other hand, this is a really unique chance for them, one they shouldn't refuse. After all, they never explicitly said that Sheffield was their last gig. And headlining Coachella (okay: a variant of it) is huge.
