how the FUCK do you TRICK YOURSELF into writing a song and not even NOTICE you've written one?!???!!? (just a little something that's been nibbling away at the back of my brain...)

Well I don't actually have any idea not being a creative type, but I got the impression from the interview that he was contrasting his approach with the type of person who has a very disciplined routine, like novelists who go to their office every morning at 9, like a normal job, and set themselves so many pages to produce in the day, who seem to be able to work at creativity. I must say I find it a mystery how anyone can manage that, have a creative job with deadlines and deliverables. Presumably some musicians do that in the studio too?? Whereas Jarvis seemed to be saying he just goes about whatever he is doing with his notebook hoping something leaps out at him while he is doing something else, say looking at fossils in the museum of palaeontology or being chatted up by posh foreign girls.
