"You could argue that Jarvis open himself up to sexualisation, but that doesn't mean it's RIGHT to sexualise him (as it's creepily close to the "she was asking for it" school of thinking), "
wow, you really are the frontrunner in the stupidity awards. don't go lame now!
Jarvis's (I am absolutely positive that isn't grammatically correct) lyrics in particular has influenced not only my appreciation of their music but my life and no amount of laughing at crudely PhotoShopped images will change that. The sort of light hearted fun poking you'll mainly find on Tumblr is the sort that comes from a place of admiration - people tend to say far more vulgar things when they only appreciate a band for their looks.
Just returning to this- I completely agree with you that you can still enjoy a band on a kind of 'serious' or emotional level, yet also have fun with them. Again, with tumblr I only ended up seeing this very one sided way that people appreciate the band- I suppose that a more complex (for want of a better word) appreciation of the band just isn't really doable on that platform.
Jesus Calum, you don't half rub people up the wrong way.
If you want a more in depth analysis of pulp, then just come to this site. At the end of the day tumblr is a website to exchange pictures and small bits of text, not for a discussion so there is no point being disappointed when people use it for what it was meant for. (And although your allegations against Tricia are long gone, the fact that she goes to this site disproves your point about her only liking Pulp in a sexual way. Not that people who don't frequent this site aren't any less of a fan). As far as I'm concerned the only indecent thing Tricia has ever done on her blog is say that Lyndhurst Grove and Happy Endings are boring. Sexualising band members is nothing new and why not? People do it to celebrities and non-celebrities alike and just because they appreciate physical attributes, that doesn't mean they can't appreciate anything else about them.
I'm still disturbed about the 'One Direction' thing. Reading something 'cos you hate it? Isn't that like deliberately buying the Daily Mail? Or sticking your tongue in a fan and then complaining about it hurting?
I'm baffled by this whole verification thing, do they just verify accounts without even checking then? That's really bloody annoying. But Calum, please pack it in, you keep cropping up with this irritating need to have arguments. Please go do that elsewhere if that's what you want, we're not about that here

I don't read it cos I HATE it, I read it cos it's absolutely hilarious! Really really funny. And don't tell me you haven't read the Daily Mail website just to snigger at the comments section...
I believe that's actually Tricia again. Tricia if you do indeed have all those twitter pulp-fan followers could you tweet about the we love life petition - it seems like an ideal way of getting the word out to the masses
20,000 followers... That would blow We Love Life Day out of the water!
Actually, despite the fact that the verified fake twitter account creeps me out, WLL is a more important cause, and if it's still verified you could actually tweet that a We Love Life reissue is DEFINITELY happening. If it's done right, press could pick up on it, and what better way to alert Island to the fact that people want to see it happen?
It's gone up again. 592 this morning, and 600 now. I keep getting notifications through suggesting people are finding the Facebook page first, and then going to Pulpwiki to sign it. Great stuff, though. I hope it keeps appearing in other peoples' feeds and continues to snowball. Certainly looks like the steepest curve we've seen thus far, anyway..
