I'm going to the UK in a week or so (last minute college graduation gift, very exciting) and I was wondering if a) anyone on here lives around Manchester and might be willing to show me around/recommend some places to go and b) if anyone had any general suggestions of places to go (I'll definitely be stopping by Bar Italia/other Pulp-y places). I'm going to be all over the country so really any tips would be very helpful!

I can certainly recommend some Manchester places...what sort of stuff are you looking for? Am spending the next couple of weeks moving house, however so cannot offer a personal guide unfortunately...!
I was in Sheffield on Sunday. Had a nosey at Mansfield Road (sadly, without knowing the house number!) and then I had my photo taken by Banks Pottery :)
That railway viaduct is rather beautiful in it's own way. Banks Pottery, of course, is Catcliffe strictly speaking. Hope you sang Catcliffe Shakedown whicle you were there!
Ah thanks! I'm going to be in Sheffield but probably only for a day, but I do want to see Banks Pottery of course. Anything fun you can recommend in Manchester would be great too, though I may be spending time looking into a masters program at the university there. I'm not sure how long I'll be in Manchester. I'll probably be spending most of my time in London.

It is beautiful, yes. God knows how Pulp managed to rehearse with trains going over their heads constantly!
I wonder how many bits of old lyrics/setlists still live up there...?
Manchester. Are you looking for record shops, amazing second hand shops, famous gig/bar venues? Or 'the sites'? Ooh, or museums? There's a great one by the Uni.
It's funny, in terms of Sheffield I've never really felt the desire to go and visit Jarvis's old house or anything like that. I prefer to think of the city as a giant psychogeographical backdrop to the songs. There is an excellent exhibition of Andy Warhol self portraits on at the Graves art gallery at the moment (they're only open weds-sat due to budget cuts but it's free entry otherwise).
Okay I am no foregoing Manchester, but may be in Sheffield longer than a day. The travel plan is Glasgow to Durham to Leeds to Sheffield and then London for ~two weeks.
Of course if anyone wants to meet up with me while I'm there let me know! I'm going to be in/around London from the 28th of May til the 7th of June and up north before then.

Since I'm leaving in 1 day, I thought I'd ask now if anyone in or near Sheffield would like to meet up with me. Right now it's the only city I'm going where I don't really know anybody and I don't mind wandering around on my own, but it might be nice to see the city with a fellow Pulp fan!

Aw I don't think I'm going to make it to Manchester, unfortunately. I wanted to but I'm trying to conserve money on train tickets and hotels and everything.
