Thought I'd start a thread to encourage the further promotion of the petition. I'm doing this on my phone as the idea strikes me but I'm going to list the sites promoted on in the near future. Each time you promote the cause you can tell us here and we'll all give you a virtual pat on the back.
And we can keep track of where it's been promoted and where we still need to promote...
Here's what I've done: Estranged Friends eels forum:
Fred, tweeted the petition link the other day. Got hilariously clueless responses from my mostly Asian friends including one from the guy who went with Jarvis in some Greenland trip.
......"they have songs other than common people?"
..."Unreleased WLL demotracks: Common People (acoustic ver); Common People (Liam Gallegher-Shatner remix); Common People (live at Carl's Pub)"
..."you mean Jarvis was in a band before Relaxed Muscle?".
If you see Asian signatories, I'm taking the credit. Hmmm, so far none.

Ha! Glad to see you keeping up the twitter front. Tried to find a Magnetic Fields forum to post on today but couldn't find one! Well... Theres a sort of site... It's only got a dozen or so posts though. Tried again with Divine Comedy's forum, no matter what I try I keep getting an error message, won't let me on...
put something up on sweetaddy.com (elliott smith forum i used to be on frequently)...we'll see what happens. and i'm still planning to send out an email to all the lovely people i met at the pomona show about the petition. also posted on the suede forum but it's kind of yikes over there...
Took my life in my hands and posted on Morrissey-Solo and on the Sheffield History forum and got good responses from both, also plugged the petition of Facebook but so far the only person who's shared it is my wife!
Just been having a look at the above mentioned forums, I like to see what people have said, then on the Elliot Smith forum (someone I keep meaning to investigate ever since his cover of Because at the end of American Beauty but never have) and stumbled upon a free mash up album of Elliot Smith and Biggie! (RIP, RIP) - it's brilliant!
So an indirect thanks to you Ruby Blue and of course to Oasis2000 what dun the mashing.
One of the DJs here in Ireland I emailed about the petition last week did play Trees during the week but didn't mention my mail. Maybe he took little notice of it but it was in his subconcious when he played Trees. Or maybe he just played it anyway. Either way you'd never get me to jump off that bridge. No chance....sorry.
Well getting Trees on the radio is a small victory in itself. Have they played that live recently? I seem to recall Chris Evans being a bit of a fan of Pulp/Jarvis...
They played 'Trees' at Brixton 2nd night. I'm a member of the Divine Comedy forum but I never post there. Think I've been on there for nearly 10 years and my only 2 posts consist of a question about bootlegs (which aren't even allowed to be alluded to on there) & a long apology for invading the stage at a show. So I reckon if I post this now - it'll probably just look like spam. To be honest I'm not sure what this petition will achieve anyway. I think we would be better off applying our efforts to breaking into Island/Universal's HQ in the dead of night and stealing the tapes from the naughty cupboard where they are locked away.
The slow "drip, drip" approach is maybe what is needed. I don't think it'll work but maybe Island/Universal will give up and allow the band to release the material on Rough Trade or something if we keep hassling them. The WeLoveJames forum? Is that moderated now?! Last time I looked at it - it was full of cunts (2007ish)!
Once I read that Saw119 had stuck his neck out by posting on the Morrissey Solo message board - They even abuse and berate Morrissey on there! I have had some very odd private messages on there when I've tried to promote a couple of Morrissey related gigs I was doing... they are very odd!
Anyway - due to being inspired by not only my pessimism but also your enthusiasm - I have posted this on the Divine Comedy forum. I only repeat it here to make sure Fred knows I've finally got around to doing it!
Hello Everybody,
I am very aware that due to my few posts on this forum, this may look like spam but I can assure you that it is not.
It's not!
I love The Divine Comedy very much but I just don't post here often as I still feel embarrassed about my last! However, I do think there is an unabridged crossover between Divine Comedy fans and Pulp fans. I can hold my head up high and use myself as a good example!
Over at the Pulp - Bar Italia forum, we have a thing - it's a thing that has been going on for a while and we think you maybe able to help. We think there are a few modest Pulp fans within this Divine Comedy message board who may lend their support to our cause.
Between 1999 & 2001(ish) there were many great songs by the great pop group, Pulp that were were recorded but never officially released. We poor quality (and a couple of good quality) copies of these songs and we know that this period was a very productive time for the band. These recordings are currently locked up in a vault somewhere in Island/Universal HQ - and as we would like to hear them!
Recently, Jarvis Cocker alluded to our forthright insistence and said that the record company weren't interested as it held no 'commercial value'.
Even if Island/Universal released the tracks to Pulp to be able to publish them independently or via Rough Trade, we'd be happy - We just want the songs!
To be honest, this hasn't gone to well. Not enough people are looking at our petition and not enough "real" people are cyber signing
We are trying to raise the profile of our crusade by whoring ourselves, irrespective of dignity around message boards, social networking sites & generally - The Internet in order to find people who may also want to hear these songs.

Great stuff. Not having much luck myself. Remembered I was a member of the Stephen king forum and checked in but (you'll never believe this) it's closed at weekends and major holidays!
