If I may offer some feedback (I know it's early days so please don't take this as a dig) - where is the link to the petition? I can't see a single one on the FB page at the moment.
Hadn't seen yr reply when I wrote that Steven! And yes, a timer would be good. Am only on the mobile this wkend tho, but can't imagine it'd be too hard to google a free one!
Had another idea, could we have a mini-article about one of the unreleased songs each day?
This is a fantastic idea...what's the list of unreleased songs?
I've set up a Twitter profile, using the baritalia2007 email and pw (same login for the Twitter account). Feel free to change the name and anything else; everything has a character limit so I tried to keep it simple. Since most of you guys (and possibly most petition signers???) are in the UK, it might be more effective to post during peak UK hours. Please follow, post, RT, blablabla
Oh, and if appropriate we can link the Twitter account to the Facebook page, I think...
Very good indeed. The tone of the text is spot-on and is timed to the music fairly well.
I wonder at the end, instead of the last slide staying-up for a full minute (I know you want to have the pulpwiki.net address up as long as possible) it might also look nice with a pic of the group. It would be a good contrast to the colour-background up to then.
That shot of them in the camper van taken from the album sleeve notes which is on the petition facebook page is great. I also like this one below, taken from an NME interview prior to Leeds/Reading 2000:
Being super-critical, My Mistake belongs in the ''heard by only the most ardent fans'' category, though that's more of an anorak note. And in one of the opening slides there is a capital ''C'' for the word ''contained'' when there shouldn't be but again that's nit-picking. I'm just thinking from a making it look as professional, but lovingly fan-made, as possible, perspective.
Ooh, indeed it is. Or should be. Lovely, slight, little two minute thing. It was the first of the two songs that the infamous Trixy posted (After You being the other one).
I think weej or Mike would be the best people to do the mini-article thing on the songs as their Pulp song-blogs are excellent.
The same, I think. Also, I thought it might have been good for people to know which song is which. 'cos I've deliberately not listened to what's been made available over the years (bar Cuckoo) and so had no idea where the other two snippets originated from!
Oh yes, and make sure the name of the video is more attractive! "Pulp - We Love Life Petition" should do the trick.
I've got the three songs listed in order in the description underneath... I'm still working version three of the video, making bigger changes and fine tuning now I've got more time before the deadline.
Has anyone else done anything interesting?
Seems no one wants to do the mini write ups on each song... If Weej or Mike wanted to put links to their own web page under each article as a sweetener for them putting in the work I'm cool with that.
and i know you are still working on it, but i would like to put in my agreement with eamonn about a picture of our beloved band being a good idea at the end. :)
I'm actually considering a multitude of photos... can anyone point me in the direction of some decent WLL era ones? One's of individual band members as well would be cracking.
Stephen, how's progress with that email? Need any second opinions?
Email was going to be a distillation of the various bits that have been discussed thus far. Am being hammered at work today though, so might be tomorrow before I get to pull it together.
Just been looking at the Facebook, all starting to look rather cool, it's already having an effect: we're up to 304 votes now.
And there's a timer! Woo! Only problem is... people won't know what WLL DX Day is, if we can get the Facebook followers all promoting the cause on Friday as well that would be epic.
Also the Twitter pages looks AMAZING but only has 3 followers, can we promote twitter on Facebook? or is that just silly? Can we follow all the people claiming to be Jarvis Cocker?
