Dear all,

Getting ready to distribute the next Portfolio, which is an enhanced and, I think, previously uncirculated copy of the final Manners & Magnus gig in November '86. Does anyone have any particularly good photo suggestions for the cover...?

Edit: I am thick and forgetful. Photos of this gig exist and will be used tastefully.

No...I was auditioning as a bassist. I played the Antony Genn card ("he couldn't play...but was fun!")

Sadly for my self esteem, I was auditioning for my former drummer, for whom I used to sing and with whom I played on an NME single of the week.

Ho hum. Those were the days!

And now I put out other peoples' muddy 80s gigs as a creative outlet.

An NME single of the week? That's better than most people manage, what song?

It wasn't intended to be a 'look at me!' sort of post, just a jokey 'oh! How the mighty have fallen!" thing.

We did a double A-Side thing with the Art Goblins (Eddie Argos and Jasper Future of Art Brut). Our song was called 'Music vs Money'. I don't have the original version online, but here's a remake we did of the song for a different project. It has probably my favourite video I ever made, though. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BpzFv4BPWQ

Yes. As played by the excellent Nick from the very excellent band Politburo.

Well, a quasi-Cameron, anyway. The masks were useful, but it's all about Bad Record Company Execs. Hence the interchangeable record company names on the desks in each scene. I forget which ones we did now, but the amorphous white blob of dark magic at the end was definitely meant to be Guy Hands.

Thank you, Fred!

Yes, I am there in various guises. I play the one with the Nick Clegg mask, and also the one 'snorting' 'coke' in the first scene. I'm also generally the poor musical innocent repeatedly handing a copy of our album to these various BEASTS.

The chap who's not Nick and is not me was Sam, the band's guitarist.

All shot in a disused cotton mill!
