The Pulpwiki says "A recording exists but it is not in circulation. Daisy may have a copy !!"
Daisy is Mark "Daisy" Day of support band Tsi Tsa. I tracked him down.
Unfortunately...
"We did indeed play with Pulp at the Limit and we may have played with them at the Hallamshire Hotel as well although the passage of time tends to make these things pretty dull. There was a recording on cassette tape of both bands direct from the mixing desk, all that Ihave in my posession is a Tsi_Tsa number that is a re-recording from the original gig. I will ask my folks, brother and cousin if they have the ld tapes laying around although 30 years later the odds are against us."
Red Letter Day Sickly Grin (live debut) Barefoot in the Park (live debut) What Do You Say? How Could You? You've Got A Face (live debut) Why Live? You Go First (live debut) Please Don't Worry Refuse to Be Blind
Hmm..''a recording exists'' at this stage possibly means that a recording was made but 30 years (of hurt, never stopped me dreaming?) on, chances are it's been lost or destroyed. Would Wayne Furniss or anyone else have copies? Point them in the direction of these portfolios and surely they'd consider sharing.
I'm reasonably sure other people do have a copy of this. In fact, I do know of somebody else who once claimed to have a copy. And quite separately from that, wasn't a song, probably from this recording, played at the launch party for Mark's book (based on the soundtrack on the book's website)?
Yes, there was a track played at the book launch - it was amongst the stuff that was borrowed for the night and had to be returned immediately afterwards.
Encouraging to hear that there may be more copies of this one out there. The only copies that I know of were/are very much under lock and key. It's an interesting show from what I remember - a lot of new songs that will have been dropped almost immediately afterwards as that version of the band only ever played one more gig. Musically it's often a bit wayward and wobbly (and sometimes rather unflatteringly captured, as is the wont of soundboard recordings) but some of the songs - especially You Go First - are great.
