Strikingly good sound quality (not far off the quality of 'Sudan Gerri'), an 'away' gig, practically demo quality unreleased song (Didn't Feel a Thing), first airing of a 'Separations' track...
I don't think the performance is as great as 'Maze Bar', but the quality is pretty unsurpassable for this era.
Thanks to the usual suspects who made this happen.
and yet again, we are so being spoiled! thanks again Stephen and everybody else ! I'm glad I took a little part in all the recently freed live stuff by anonymously sending a certain previously uncirculating 1982 live recording to the yahoo account :)
Ah Freek, so you were responsible. Good on you! Thank you and well done.
God knows where you got that from, but if you have anything else that's not surfaced on these Portfolios, then do (please!) feel free to continue to upload. Slightly less anonymously now of course...!
Stephen I surely would have, but sadly it's the only rare thing I have, aside from all the gigs of course that are mentioned in the "request a bootleg" thread that I started a while ago.
On the cover, Russell looks fairly fit and toned for a musician. I remember laughing my head off at that pic when I bought Truth And Beauty. Only topped by the one of a young Jarvis in a photo booth looking like a middle-aged woman
I'm sure I've told this story before on here but go on then!
One of the pages of the 1997 Pulp calendar is a montage of old passport photos. Not all the people on said page are recognisable but you can definitely spot Steve and Candida on there, maybe Russell too.
Anyway, some of these photos are of a kid with long blond hair and NHS specs. And as we all know, Jarvis as a child had long blond hair and NHS specs. It's a Pulp calendar. Those have obviously got to be photos of Jarvis as a child.
A month after the book came out I got an email from Paul Burgess. Paul did the 1997 Pulp calendar. He was surprised and rather amused to see that photo in the book as it only ended up in the calendar as a sort of in-joke. The photos were in fact of his then-girlfriend, aged 11.

Eamonn, Russell was really rather hot stuff back in his day. On the '91 videos on Beat is the Law he's far, far easier on the eye that dirty Jarvis in his filthy dog coat. Also pushes him in the charisma stakes, too.
Mark, I hadn't heard this story before. It must have been quite a galling email for you.
Still, seems odd that Paul Burgess would out himself as an 'early adopter' in order to embarass you. Did you go to the police re: his claim?
