Thanks for the upgrade.

I guess you meant Leadmill '84 rather than Hallamshire?

Yes indeed! Sorry...trying to keep track of a few things at the moment...and evidently failing!

Not sure I hear much difference.

The 'jam' track is duplicated, but labelled as a duplicate of Mark of Devil.

Probably about the same actually on further listenings.

Curious thing about the version of Tunnel: there doesn't appear to be any guitar (or violin, for that matter). So what's Russell doing? Hitting some extra percussion maybe?

Maybe he's providing a Dada'ist interpretation of the song on toilet roll and tinsel? Actually, that's probably not too far from the truth!

I hope that's true. I think I also hear some additional drumming though...

Question for you Mr saw119: do you know where in the uni the Maze Bar was?

Love that version of Tunnel, and Back In LA is surprisingly good too. Cheers Stephen!

To be honest I can't say for certain but the Union has changed quite alot recently. I would say that there are 2 possibilities. Downstairs in what is now University house on the bottom floor is a bar and also the large, and what I would call the main bar, that has an entrance on Glossop Rd. Sorry, it's not much help. I've been looking for a photo but cannot seem to find one online. The best, and only, one I can find at the moment is on the back cover of a Throbbing Gristle CD of a show from Sheffield Uni in 1980! I'll do some more research on this one.

Good spot, Mark!

Stephen, I suspect that bar at the back of the Union may have been 'Maze'. Dunno why. Just a feeling. I went to a Pulp night there last year! It seems apt :)

The room Stephen is describing (I think) is called the Raynor Lounge, and AFAIK it's always been called that (there's a plaque outside marking the opening).

If it's definitely in the Union complex (Sheff Uni Union own at least one other bar externally, but not sure for how long) I reckon the Maze Bar is now either 'Bar One' which is the large bar outside or the Interval Bar.

I've just spoken to my Boss, who used to be in bands back in the day (Bride Wore Black and Deathtrash apparently), and actually recalls seeing Pulp in the Maze Bar! (lucky sod!)

He reckons the Maze bar was a level up from Bar One, on the same level as the 'Lower Refectory'.

I don't know the layout well enough (I've been but I was never a Student there) so that would make it either the Interval bar, or the Foundry.

Given his description of size and so on, I reckon it's the Interval or the smaller room in Foundry & Fusion.

Many thanks for that. The Maze Bar recording certainly sounds as if it's in a tiny space (with a shit PA).

Hold on, I haven't heard the Maze Bar recording yet! Has it been posted and I've missed it?

Trying desperately to upload it, but megaupload keeps failing it. And, indeed, anything I try to upload to it!

Any suggestions?

Stephen, I gave you last week some details about unlimited upload space I set up for you. You can upload the various portfolios in different quality (including the best).

I mean you should not consider to limit the possibilities for such a technical limitation whereas we can give you some help.

I remind you, because then, I can make the files available to the board.

Does Mediafire have a limit of how much you're allowed to put on it? I'm somewhere over 450MB at the moment. Couldn't find anything telling me what the maximum is though...

How big is the file you're trying to upload Stephen?

On Mediafire (when using the free service) I get a warning message when trying to upload a file larger than 200MB, so it might be necessary to split the file into smaller parts.
