OK doke, looks like, with a couple more finds, I'll be starting the Project from scratch. Two questions...
1. Where should I host it for best access by all?
2. Should I have the remastered tracks, or stick to the originals? Although I really enjoyed listening to New Freaks tonight, it did have a much different feel to the hissy original...
Bit of a pain to upload to yahoo track by track, and even more of a pain to download. They still have a filesize limit, so the zip won't do it. Mediafire links don't expire as easily as those on other sites - I've had stuff up there for years and it's still fine. If it does expire or get deleted for any reason, then it's easy to upload it again on request. Ultimately I think the best thing to do would be to put the whole set in a torrent, but we'd need people to keep seeding it indefinitely.
I think Mediafire for now. If people want to torrent it, that's fine. But I'm not sure I want this going to the casual person who thinks "I'd like the Pulp back catalogue" and downloads every single bootleg that exists via a torrent of the Portfolios. I sort of want it to be for those of us who still care and still use forums like this and suchlike...
But yes...remasters, or originals...? The originals are, of course, 'as the band intended', but the remasters give more of a feel of how the actual recording session was probably intended, before bad mixing and mastering got in the way!
