Hoping they see some sense and promote the Fire albums!
I suppose it'll give me the chance to buy a drink or two if they do. I'd settle for a Brixton-like set, but am expecting something more like Hyde Park. Live Bed Show & Sheffield Sex City would go down well with me as they were only played on the second night and left out on night one.
Joyriders must be a definite on the set list.
Wow really??? I'd much rather miss the likes of Common People and Babies than anything from the Fire albums. Really hope it isn't like Hyde Park, that was basically Different Class. Brixton was more balanced. Something like that but with Death II, Anorexic Beauty and Wishful Thinking would be perfect
Still got 2 Circle seats for sale together, value plus postage if anyone wants them. Roughly £85 with both tickets coming to around £80 with booking fee's then a fiver for special delivery.
Well now here's a thing, let's presume Russell isn't playing and they haven't had a massive series of rehearsals to rearrange the songs, which tracks can't they play anymore? Will Leo Abrahams be playing? Will Common People now sound like the Krautrock/Motorik version from 01/02?
Set list wise, realistically I'm hoping they play Bad Cover Version, Lipgloss & Party Hard at least. Unrealistically, it'd be great if they played She's A Lady, Cocaine Socialism and It's a Dirty World

She's A Lady was always a showcase for Russell's violin live. The version on HnH is sadly lacking that instrument and is really just a pale shadow of it's live incarnation, in my opinion. Would be surprised but delighted if they played that.
I think ppl should get real. Brixton was 'for the fans'. This is a big charity event at a pretty big venue and is gonna be much more crowdpleasing. Yr not gonna have to to to the bar during Freaks or walk out during 'Silence' or throw pints of piss during Sink or Swim, so why worry about it?
Stephen, point taken. I was grumpy when I wrote that! I just don't think a gig at a bigger venue (with presumably less set time) than Brixton is going to result in more obscurities!
Ah you say that but I rang the RAH the other day to ask about set times and she said it's rare at these events to have support and last year Beady Eye played about 2 and a half hours, considering they don't play Oasis songs we may have time for some treats.

Indeed so, Suede played 21 songs when they did a show for the Teenage Cancer Trust that's about the same as Pulp at Brixton on the 2nd night. I've also just had a quick look at their setlist that night and, correct me if I'm wrong, but only 2 songs they played used Russell's violin (Sorted & Common People) so it might be a fair assumption to expect something almost the same irrespective of whether Russell is there or not!
Ou was violin led too tho, and Countdown had Russell on lead guitar. He played violin on Wickerman and Sex City too amongst others! Good news re length tho. Good research!
I was very excited when I saw the announcement. The date isn't the best for me though. I'm living in Hungary and me and my band won at a competiton and we'll be in London 19th-26th March. I can't stay longer. I decided to fly back on the 31th and I was lucky enough to get standing tickets on the pre-sale, so I'll be there. I can't believe I'm doing this. I mean I'm 19...everyone around me thinks I'm an idiot, but who cares?
It didn't surprise me that Russell has left, but it would be better with him and his piercing stare :)
I think their playlist will be based on their hits, although I would like to hear a bit more of TIH and WLL. I hope they'll play Pink Glove. It's my favourite song by them and brings back many memories :)

Two things:
I just looked at the RAH website in search of details of timings, i.e. can I catch the last train at 11:30 home from Paddington or do I need to stay overnight?
has Russell in the picture. Is that significant? The text doesn't agree with the picture though, so maybe just an oversight on someone's part. I think we can deduce fairly reasonably from last year that Russell is getting on pretty happily with the rest of the band now. But the 4 that were on Steve Lamacq's interview before last summer all said they had had to put whatever they were doing on hold, we know Russell has delayed his new play for example, presumably there is only so long he wants/is able to do that for. But that needn't preclude either future involvement or one-off jaunts down to London for the evening.
2. My original problem, timings. It was said here that there is often no support, but a long set by the principal band. But here in the NME it says "support acts for the gigs will be announced soon". It says the same thing on the Teenage Cancer Trust site.

Oh come on, it's quite clear that Russell isn't in the band full time anymore!! The photo means literally nothing- it's been established that he's back working on his play, playing with the band would mean much more than turning up on the night, he'd have to be part of rehersals and his presence would greatly effect the logistics of the shows.
I don't doubt that he'll turn up as a guest at some point, but all the evidence points towards him not playing the gigs this year. I'd believe what you read in the press releases over the accompanying photo.
Also, it's pretty much 100% certain that there will be support acts- the person at the RAH doesn't know what they're talking about. EVERY other Teenage Cancer Trust gig has has one or more support.
Yes, Beady Eye played a long set, but they still had a support act (Miles Kane).
Also I really hope to hear some rarer songs, something from Freaks & Separations would be amazing.
Me too.. I don't think that the lack of Russell will affect whether or not they play older songs, they played plenty of older tracks (Legendary Girlfriend, I Want You etc) in 2001/02
