Nice. The award they're picking-up at the NME thing is named after this aswell isn't it? I have a 14 year-old cousin fighting a losing battle with leukemia. Absoloutely heartbreaking to see it happen.
Great to see the group support this.
I wonder will it be part of a series of UK dates around that time before they go off to America. Probably unlikely given it's towards the end of Feb now.

I assume it's just by knowing about it, i.e. seeing that tweet. The link goes to a www2 address which is presumably not generally visible on the normal seeticket site.

Sad about the Russell situation too, but what's the normal situation with TCT gigs? Does one tend to get new songs, or is it very much a Hits arrangement...?

It's all the hits usually, since it attracts the kinda audience you get on festivals. but who knows...
Or maybe I'm wrong (but only just!). This is the number of times each Pulp song (over 10,000 listens) has been played by last.fm users over the last 6 months.
Common People 47,108 Disco 2000 39,866 Do You Remember The First Time 21,422 Babies 20,566 Sorted For E's & Whizz 20413 Something Changed 19,792 Underwear 18,427 Mis-Shapes 18,034 This Is Hardcore 17,648 Pencil Skirt 15,532 I Spy 14,902 Live Bed Show 13,416 F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O. 12219 Lipgloss 11,966 Bar Italia 11,927 Help The Aged 11,675 Monday Morning 11,642 Party Hard 10,142
"Pulps original line up - Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey and Mark Webber - will perform their greatest hits." is on the TCT website. Dont expect Manon acoustic.
Suede's setlist from when they played a couple of years back:
She Trash Filmstar Animal Nitrate Heroine Pantomime Horse The Drowners Killing of a Flashboy Can't Get Enough Everything Will Flow He's Gone The Next Life The Asphalt World So Young Metal Mickey The Wild Ones New Generation Beautiful Ones
Encore: The Living Dead The 2 of Us Saturday Night
I was thinking of the Suede gig, aye. It was, however, their first 'comeback' gig, wasn't it? Well, apart from the Manchester warm-up anyway. Hence hearing The Hits was every bit as good as hearing the 'rarities'!
Suede were never as popular as Pulp were at their highest point in 95/6 so Suede setlists always tend to be more interesting (plus they released an excellent b sides album in Sci-Fi Lullabies). I often think Pulp are too conservative, and predictable, in their setlist choices. Hope they prove me wrong though.
Yeah Suede come back is really for the die hard fans, cant see regular people going to see them. For Pulp, it's different, they will appeal to a wider audience, people that will go to their gigs only because it's Pulp, probably not knowing half of their songs.
AHHHH!!! So happy! I was very close to buying tickets to Murcia, but now I will relax and happily stroll to the albert hall instead!!! Hope we can do a meet up like last time at Brixton.
That's what worries me about the new gigs. I love all eras of Pulp but I saw all the later material done plenty back in the day! I want to hear stuff like OU and Countdown
Considering the only propperly recorded thing from last year was Reading, & the TCT gigs are recorded...I doubt they'd want the only two sets of footage to be too similar. I don't think it'll be that DC-heavy at all.

Bye Bye hopes of hearing This house Is Condemned then I suppose. The Royal Albert Hall is really fancy isn't it - any idea of capacity / if it will be standing or sitting?
The band will play whatever they want, which will probably be mostly hits like previously. The fact it's a charity show doesn't mean there will be a certain type of fan there, it will be pretty much like the people at Brixton I'm sure (those who found out in time and got up early enough to buy tickets.) If it was a competition winners only show, or where they auctioned tickets, that would be different...
So does this sound more like an all-seater, more sedate affair. I partly ask as my 9 year old daughter might be quite up for Jessie J the next day if it sounds suitably restrained. Also, though this is complete heresy to any proper music lover, as a fairly short person myself who gets panic attacks in crowds, the thought of being able to sit in a seat and still see what's happening, not having to choose between moshing (no chance) and being miles away behind tall people, is rather appealing.

I'm almost 100% sure the downstairs will be standing. It's rock/pop music and it's a charity gig- they can get more people in if they have standing, so why wouldn't they? You can see really well from the seats in the upper levels of the Albert Hall, mind.
It'll be a great gig to see them in, providing the sound is right. Saw Mozza there, sat at the back, with a great view. Saw Mogwai stood at the front and they were let down by poor sound, till we went up to the balcony for the encore and it sounded loud as hell
Even without Russell, I'm doubly excited. Pulp are the only band who could drag me back to the snooty Albert Hall, at the Suede one I really felt the staff were talking down to me lol. Have to admit I kissed the TCT wristband I got at the Suede gig on hearing this news tho'! This will be my ninth Pulp gig I think...
I would have liked to have gone down to see Macca as well but I am feeling pretty skint and can't justify another costly trip to London. Might sit this out and probably regret it!
It's about time they came to me. For The amount of times I've travelled for them now- it'd only be good manners for them to play in my front room
I wonder if we'll get Last Day Of The Miner's Strike at last, the 'new' (2001-2) Common People & plenty of rarities a la Forest Tour, Eden & Auto? The version of FEELINGCALLEDLOVE they opened with at Reading '01 was particularly good too. & I'd LOVE to hear Help The Aged, Birds In Your Garden & Minnie again. Just trying to be positive about Russell's non-involvment, people!
Oh, decisions decisions..... Not the biggest fan of Albert Hall and those last two Brixton gigs were awesome. Also, can't help but feel it might be Hyde Park again with mainly diff class, hmmmm..... Can see me panicking at the last minute and ending up getting tickets "just in case"!
Lovely venue (so I'm told) for Macca. I don't have the holidays. But then again, my Quango thingummy is dead from 31st March, so what can they do to me...? :)
Am in complete quandary as I loved Brixton so much and I don't want to spoil the memory. BUT if it's a chance to hear more stuff from This is Hardcore and We Love Life I'd be gutted to miss it. AND I promised teenage son if they play again I'd take him. AND I happen to be in London anyway on 28 March for the opening of the British Design 1948-2012 exhibition at the V&A. BUT my husband will be away in New York (he's gutted his dates don't coincide with Pulp there) and it makes things mega complicated back in Cornwall with kids and pets...

Deborah, I'd go for it. The way Pulp seem to work, you never know which gig will be the last one. Or quite what you'll get to hear!
After all, who'd have thought that 'Like a Friend' (of all things) would have had an airing at a filled-to-capacity Glastonbury stage in the sunshine...?

I almost didn't go to Hyde Park for that same reason. Brixton was quite a high, but Royal Albert Hall will be well worth seeing Pulp at. Next best thing to the Theatre Royal. I'd much rather see Pulp there than somewhere like the O2.
I have been to the RAH three time, Suede, which was excellent on the Dog Man Star tour, Beautiful South/Shed Seven where I sat very high up, and wasn't quite as good, though there was lots of laughs launching paper aeroplanes from up there, and once for the Proms (though not the last night), which was incredible.
Best to get on to the floor area, but seats on first level are very good.
The Royal Albert Hall is really fancy isn't it - any idea of capacity / if it will be standing or sitting?
The capacity is about 5,000, but about 1,000 seats are held by members, which is a form of debenture mainly used to ensure tickets for the Proms. I doubt too many will be used for Pulp. Quite often they have the RAH box office sell them on, but for charity shows, they are auctioned. I'd expect standing on the floor as well as the gallery (not good if you suffer from vertigo). There are also boxes available.
I know, I feel the same, Brixton was so super special for me, but still, I am chuffed to have another chance to see the band, or at least most of them. Now let the stress begin to get standing tickets, tomorrow at 9am I am nowhere near a computer, so fingers crossed the pre sale tickets las a little bit longer than an hour, otherwise friday it is. x
Thanks ArrGee - still my prospects of going aren't great. I'll be on a train at 9.00 Wednesday and in the middle of an important presentation at 9.30 Friday
They haven't made it clear who this pre-sale is for have they? I seen the link on twitter for seetickets yesterday but it didn't make it clear whether you needed to be on the mailing list or a customer of somewhere did it? Surely the pre-sale isnt available to everyone because that would make it pointless?
Pre Sales are pointless. Even when there is a password the touts have hold of them. Still, it gives you 2 chances to get up early and miss out on tickets.

it is available to all, essentially a bit of a heads up for those who are bothered enough to look into it. Only pointless if you fail to get a ticket. Pre-sale links can come in handy in getting tickets, though the Hyde Park one was a total farce as the page I was looking at never had the link updated...
