Really intrigued as to Pulp's appearance tonight. Will they give much of a speech/be willing to be interviewd, pose for pics etc.? Quite exciting, they've not been publicly fussed over like this in arguably 16 years.
The nme.com live text thing has posted a lot of pics of the bands as they posed, no Pulp yet. Hope they're not grumpily avoiding it. There will be no escape from being papped once they go up to accept their award!
NME: SPOTTED: a confused looking Jarvis Cocker heading for the gents (not in *that* way you understand). We know he was on the guest list (obviously, because Pulp are playing later), but we hadn't actually seen him til now, as he ducked out of the red carpet run. But then, when you're recipients of the Outstanding Contribution award, you can do whatever the hell you like.
"Pulp are up onstage accepting their award and reminiscing about the last time they won an NME Award, back in the 90s - and broke it while celebrating afterwards. Jarvis is also comparing the NME Awards to the Brits. "Adele wouldn't have any problems with this, would she?" he says, gesturing to the middle finger statuette - before thanking all the fans who came to Pulp's comeback shows last summer. The applause, when he finishes speaking, is *deafening*. And now they're going to play live!"
They only performed 2 songs Babies and the huge surprise.......Mis Shapes???......and then Noel Gallagher gets to top the show. WHAT THE FUCK
Mis-shapes? Glad I didn't go
As for Gallagher and the Angry Birds, totally agree. What the fuck! He was shite at the Brits, and doubtless shite again tonight. (well unless he learnt to sing like Liam)
