Why don't we all just listen to 'Out of the Blue' and pretend it's a 'new' or 'lost' Pulp album. Yeah sure it's different, but all Pulp albums are different. Until I hear otherwise, I'll listen to this.
You can be sure they wouldnt come back with a shit record. It's not that kinda band. they will take 6 years to record it if necessary but it will be good.
"That the band have made someone not in the band aware of this information could point towards them wanting it to be leaked in the form of online rumours (maybe it was deliberate?)"
I know Candida was the one who really put her foot down in the Lamacq interview about no new recording, but that was before the first gig and they were all super-anxious about the whole thing still. I thought from the TV pictures at the end of the summer as they finished the Reading show that she looked really, genuinely happy, so maybe she would be up for more after all.
Aren't rumours and leaks the way things are done these days, are we not here for fevered speculation and tittle-tattle and working ourselves up into frenzies, they even call it social media to make it sound official, generate a groundswell of interest? Though my take on this snippet barcroft refers to:
"Great news...and it backsup a snippet from an interview / article in NME a few weeks back where a female artist accidentaly let let leak."
This was the lady with the kazoo, yes? I thought then that Jarvis is probably involved in all manner of bits and bobs that might involve recording studios, on the most high profile levels there's the vocals for Discodeine and BoysNoize/Erol Alkan but I imagine there's loads of bits and pieces here and there, he has his fingers in lots of pies. So I wouldn't necessarily take that to mean much.

The first Jarvis record is up there with the best of Pulp IMO. The second is good with great moments Pilchards, Angela, Discosong, Further Complications & Fuckingsong being standouts.
Now back to the 'reunion'. My other favorite band on equal footing with Pulp are Smashing Pumpkins - There are lots of similarities such as, ever changing line up, both have a classic period, both classic lineup's hit a commercial slump in the late 90s (Hardcore = Adore / MACHINA = WLL). Mark leaving the stage quickly after the Auto show = James Iha doing the same at the 'last' Metro show...
So as a SP fan - you'd have thought I'd have learned something from this. But nope! I need some more Pulp - I think they'll be clever enough to not fuck it up and remember - WLL still has not got the recognition it deserves so it's not like they've got to compete with their last album (in terms of media).
And i thought i was the only SP / Pulp fan on this planet :D I have big hopes for Oceania, but i really hate anything they've done between machina and teargarden. Billy can either be genius or completly shit. It's funny because my two fav records by both bands have flopped (Hardcore, Adore).
"Mark leaving the stage quickly after the Auto show" - not heard about this. What's it about? Was he rushing to sign on...?
I was there and Mark left the stage before the gig was even finished. You can hear Jarvis refer to it at the end of the Auto bootleg when he's saying his goodbyes, he seemed a tiny bit bitter about it.

It's a wierd crossover f'sure, though if you look at Jarv/Bills solo attempts there really are similarities.
You know we're both going to get our fingers burned when it finally drops. However I listened to the 12 tracks from Teargarden on a train yesterday and I have to say it's all better than I had previously thought.
It's not really news though is it? Man on the internet says he's talked to man in pub who says he knows something. It's hearsay, nothing more. I don't want to piss on anyone's chips, and it would be lovely if they made another album, but the fact is that this is all entirely at odds with anything the band themselves have said officially. It all just seems a bit far-fetched to be getting excited about at this point.

It wasn't before the gig was finished I don't think, it was just he left at the end of the final song and didn't hang around for all the showbiz "thankyou and goodnight!" stuff at the very end. I asked him about it a few months back and he didn't specifically remember it, but said something about how he never really saw the point in hanging around on stage once you'd finished playing. I don't think there was much more to read into it than that, other than the fact Jarvis apparently found it a bit annoying.

Leaving the stage right away seems a bit rude to me. Ive done gigs and it's always nice to hang out on stage for a least a few seconds, get the applause wave goodbye and stuff. To me leaving like he did (apparently) would be like leaving before "the end" at a movie theatre.
It's the fact that it was their last show as well that maybe wrankled a bit. It's nice to say goodbye to your loyal fans who've spent several hours in a freezing cold former steelworks on the boundary between Sheffield & Rotherham in the middle of winter, and paid for the privelige! Although, I did end up being stood in front of Chris Morris while I was watching Jamie Liddell.
I was at Uni in Leicester at the time and I was skint. I was offered a lift there (didn't have a ticket but thought I might be able to get one) and hedged my bets against it - One of my bbiggest regrets!
