Happy new year and all that, just wanted to recommend this book, Retromania by Simon Reynolds, to you all. I'm still reading it myself but it really is very good. It doesn't have any specific Pulp references but touches on many topics that I'm sure were all involved in. I would love to get into a discussion with you all about it anyway!
Hi Saw, I bought the book a while back and read bits of it but have yet to sit down and give it a proper read. Won't get to for a few months. Definitely looks like a great read though... YouTube being a collective archive of memory and all that is true enough. And in light of the spate of reunions and reissues it does make the book very relevant.
(Btw were you the person who uploaded the Sex, Pulp and Critique article by EF Clarke a while back? There is another academic-y type article by David Beer called Making Friends with Jarvis Cocker: Music Culture in the Context of Web 2.0 which is good. It's just about how the artist can now chat to the fans whereas they were previously the enigmatic distant stars. I just googled it and I think it can be read as Pdf online)
