Jarvis will be presenting his book in Paris at Rouge Trade @ Agnès B (I know, I know... Nowadays fashion took over indie music) on December 14th at 7pm.
As there is no longer a Rough Trade shop in France (Jarvis played for the opening of the one back in 92 and I think it went close in the late 90's), what they do is for the Record Store Days they open a small shop in the Agnès B shop. So plenty of people there are people interested more in fashion than music, and girls buying a 'Rough Trade at Agnès B' bag because it looks sorock'n'roll.
But, things aren't that different in Rough Trade East which looks more an Apple Store than a records shop.
There used to be a fantastic second hand music shop in Newcastle called Pet Sounds but the last time I went in it was almost entirely black hoodies with logos for metal bands on and a tiny shelf of CDs at the back - presumably a concession to all the teenagers who had started to hang around on the 'hippy green' outside. It closed not long after. And this was years before iTunes!
I went to this event yesterday. He read inside susan, modern marriage, acrylic afternoon, one song from relaxed muscle (with Bruce Lee in it...) sorted, deep fried in kelvin, wickerman... He introduced this last song by saying it was from the last & final pulp album :( ??? He was very nice when he signed the books and all I told him was that i went to the festival in France they played this year... Happy XMAS...
Jarvis is hardly gonna say "yes we recorded a new album" to some random fan at a signing anyway if there's something happening next year. It's never clearly mentionned in any press interview, which is weird enough.
I bought a copy of the book and managed to talk a bit to Jarvis when he signed my copy. He was actually quite open to conversation, but I didn't ask questions because there was a lot of people waiting behind me. So, I just talked a bit about this year's Pulp's shows, and couldn't ask him about the re-issues. I planed to chat a bit with him afterwards but he was actually busy giving interviews, etc...
I tried to film the performance, with a mobile phone (I know, I know, shame on me, but that's the only thing I could borrow to film). It seems that it turned good (well, not so bad), and I'll let you know when I'll get something ready.
Maybe another person from this forum will ask the question and will have the response. Just an error from myself, he read david's last summer, not deep fried in kelvin.

You should go to RPM. It's marvellous. Coincidentally. they also stock Sturdy Records releases!
