I didnt want to post my hello on an old thread. Hello! I have been lurking for a bit now, reading about the summer tour and book signings and beard debate(hot either way) I had the pleasure of seeing Pulp in 94,96 and 98. I had the luck of finding out about Pulp before they got big due to a music nerd bf who would buy nme every week and then buy all the imports of most of the bands from the mega HMV downtown. Of course this led to some dodgy music listening (Shampoo anyone?) but ultimately led me down the british music road I tend to still wander down. Anyhow hello.

I read this thread title as "Hi from Candida."

Am slightly disappointed, but hello anyway (waves). We like newbies here.

Voxpop actually has the video of Jarvis and Mark at Much Music and I'm in the audience!

I always assumed Voxpop was a lady, amusing he has footage of you, and you're only just posting to say hello, and you already knew of this footage! Crikey, it's a small world!

Got several Canadia-bound friends, and the most "english" music they like is The Divine Comedy - in itself a good choice, but perhaps it's to do with diction: Hannon is a very easy to understand chap!

Anyhow - hello!

Nooo, just me being a dick. Sorry! Have a friend there from Iran, he's affectionately known as Caniranian, and that evolved over time.

None of my friends - as far as I know - are Candida-bound.

I am unsure of Voxpops gender. I actually had the footage on VHS but it is long gone and had been looking now and then on youtube for it and searched this board recently and found it. 98 was a good year cos they came twice, once for press with just Jarvis and Mark and again a couple of months later on tour. Saw Neil Hannon a few years back, good show, quite smaller than expected, but they all seem to be.

Yes, I am a Canadian Male.

Not sure why/how Eamonn knew I was Canadian, but glad he pointed it out. As I read down the posts, I was eager and ready to comment on Andy's comment about NO Canadians.(there are a few of us Fuss Free, Bort, The Legendary Girlfriend of Troy Truelane, at least I think)

Welcome 'There Dressed in Green'. Willing to point out where in the Video you are.

In video 2 I show up around the 48-49 sec mark, right at the front withh the bob and fringe, we were closest to them. Guess the crowd was too sedate for many crowd shots. Its mind blowing that it was over a decade ago.

Haha, I think you must have mentioned it before or spoke about seeing them in Toronto aswell as kindly uploading Pulp stuff to youtube from Canadian tv.

I would say your avatar also gives it away but I presume that was only added after you saw this thread!

Did you see them live at all? I really, really, really hope they do one last hoorah in North America and play Toronto again. It would be awesome if they played the Opera House again, although it would more likely be The Phoenix or Warehouse.

Nope, never seen them live. I've seen Jarvis in LA and NY a couple of times.  Were you at Opera House '98? Thoughts?

I've made a committment to see a couple of the spring shows in the UK though. If I don't, I'll think about it for the rest of my life like that damn Forest Tour.

The Opera House was 96 and yes I was, This was back before the internet and I didnt even know they were coming until after it sold out, went down anyhow and got in. The show was amazing. The place was packed and since the venue was quite small there was only a small gap between the front and the stage. It was one of the very few times when I felt like the whole audience was really part of something amazing and we all knew it. The show itself was amazing and everyone in the band really enjoyed themselves it seemed. I also saw them in '94 at the Phoenix when they opened for Blur and in 98 at Massey Hall and at Much Music.

I wish I got to see them in '96. I remember how fast it sold out. But at least I got to see them at Massey Hall. I doubt they'd play the Warehouse, but the Pheonix would be good. (if they ever play here again)
