Does anyone else think that maybe Darren was recycled by Jarvis into a Relaxed Muscle song? Given his alter ego in RM (Darren Spooner), some comments in Mother, Brother, Lover (the notes to B-Real and Mary) and Tony Webber's comments re. subject matter ('knickers to the fore') it seems quite possible to me. Perhaps the song was about Mary, Darren's estranged wife? Although since Darren's son is also called Darren it could be about him!
Thanks to everyone who has posted ideas about how to promote the petition.
Mentions on Facebook/Twitter/Last.fm/UK music forums (etc.) would all be great. I'll do what I can to let people know, but if we're going to get to the number of names that could possibly lead to something, as much help as possible will be needed - so please do mention it wherever you can.
Regarding what demos may actually exist. The five mentioned by saw119/Stephen are certainly the only unheard ones we definitely know of, and to even get to hear some of them, would be an excellent result in my opinion. But, I reckon there probably are some more with vocals. For example, there was some indication that 'The Last Song In The World' may have been on the same CD that 'My Mistake' and 'After You' came from. If so, it's a good bet it has vocals.
Also, several of the unreleased demos we currently have (specifically the October '99 Wessex Studios ones), were probably copied from CD to cassette and then back to CD, hence the noise and other distortion. Cleaner versions would definitely be nice to have.
Although I wouldn't buy WLL again if there isn't any new stuff on it (I already have the cd and vinyl), I would re-buy only if it had just a few leftovers from those sessions on it. The Quiet Revolution, Cuckoo Song, Yesterday and so on are fantastic songs in my book.

Day boy Akala's a diamond fella
All you little boys are a comedy of errors
You bellow but you fellows get played like
The cello, I'm doing my ting
You're jealous like Othello.
Who you? what you gonna do?
All you little boys get Tamed like the Shrew
You're mid-summer dreamin'
Your tunes aren't appealing
I'm Capulet, you're Montague, I ain't feeling
I am the Julius Caesar hear me
The Merchant Of Venice couldn't sell your CD
As for me, All's Well That Ends Well
Your boy's like Macbeth, you're going to Hell
Measure for Measure, I am the best here
You're Merry Wives of Windsor not King Lear
I don't know about Timon
I know he was in Athens
When I come back like Hamlet you pay for your action
Dat boy Akala, I do it As You Like
You're Much Ado About Nothing
All you do is bite it
I'm too tight, I don't need 12 knights
All you little Tempests get murked on the mic
Of course I'm the one with the force
You're history like Henry IV
I'm fire, things look dire
Better run like Pericles Prince Of Tyre
Off the scale, cold as a Winter's Tale
Titus Andronicus was bound to fail
So will you if Akala get at ya
That's suicide like Anthony & Cleopatra
Cymbeline was a modern day Bridget Jones
Love's labours lost, a woman on her own
She needed Two Gentlemen Of Verona
This is Illa State and I am the owner
It does rather. The people who buy deluxe editions are hardcore fans anyway so there's no reason why WLL DX should sell any less that DC DX.

It'll happen at some point since Fire is releasing the oldies and the 90s records have already been re-released, if they (Island) wanna make some cash that's the only option they have left. Maybe next year, who knows. especially if Pulp do more shows. I think they rejected it last year coz the reunion gig were enough on their own to market Pulp (i think Island got cash from the songs performed live and people buying the old records).
By the way, all these demos: reworked, mixed properly, they almost could make a real full quality album dont they ? I mean the leak we have sound like they have been transcoded 1000 times...

I don't know how many signatures would impress Universal (they've just eaten up EMI and only have Sony to rival them...just spend a few quid on this and watch it recoup for feck sake!), I think I mentioned 5,000 at some stage but that seems laughably ambitious when we have one hundred and a bit after three weeks! Maybe a couple of thousand would do... Any ideas about spreading the word where it will have a genuine effect?
Interestingly, I saw the other day on Jarvis' Facebook page that a posting was made about the Rough Trade book signing and within an hour or two there were dozens of 'likes', and even more for a playlist of his that was posted on another site. If we could get these people to spend half a minute signing up on the wiki it would all make a difference. Also, I see the ''limited edition'' version of Mother, Brother, Lover sold out pretty quickly (I know they were limited in number but they cost £100 so there's some indication that there's people out there happy to spend money on his/Pulp's work).
I think Jazza already posted the petition link in one of the Jarvis discussion wall-posts but to give it greater exposure I suppose it needs to be posted on its own on the Jarvis and Pulp walls. And then, obviously, the less-specific Pulp related social media alternative music portals need to be targeted for it to have a proper impact.
Anything else?
Edit: Oh and I forgot to say, Johnny Depp mentioned Jarvis on the Graham Norton show last week and said (well, indirectly) ''I really love your band'' (to comedian Ed Byrne, who looks similar to Jarv, who was also on the show). Maybe we could get him to endorse it...I mean The Fast Show got him to perform in a sketch!

How about sending the petition to the media (maybe it's already been suggested ?) it might interest the news websites, like the NME... I already see the NMEheadlines: "Fans unite to urge newly Universal bought EMI to re-release Pulp's last record... with Jarvis blessing"

Yeah saw that! I did post on the facebook wall a few times and I think that was shared by a few people. I also contacted those behind the facebook/ twitter accounts twice but they haven't replied My uncle works for EMI so may be able to get a word in edgeways but not too sure if he can do anything.
When I was in the queue at the Sheffield signing I kept urging people to join this forum if they were at all interested in Pulp/Jarvis Cocker but I don't think anyone took any notice of my madman ravings. Sadly, I think the signing was before the petition went live. I can't understand why people who are into Pulp aren't on this forum. I only joined recently after lurking for a long time and it's been brilliant so far!
I think we would need a minimum of a couple of thousand signatures.
Regarding the idea of contacting the NME and other media, I think it's a good idea, but for them to take any notice, we would probably need to already have a few hundred signatures at least. They are unlikely to report on it if there isn't clearly quite a bit of momentum behind it already.
Jazza, thanks for posting about it on Facebook, that's much appreciated. It was worth a try with contacting the official Facebook/Twitter accounts, but it's probably a bit of a long shot, because those sort of channels rarely cover anything unofficial, and if they did they would most probably need the band's permission first.
A couple of people have tried to sign lots of times - I've deleted those. Also, should silly names be deleted - like the 'Jarvis Cocker Jr' whose just signed? Maybe a box should be added to the page asking people not to use silly names, because it does reduce the chances of it being taken seriously.
dumb question from andy # 125: On the pulp wiki, it says Got to have love have Jarvis on vocals on a demo: does this mean there's verse and chorus and stuff or he just repeats the line we have with the femal vox ?
