I hope that, for the sake of those who didn't see them elsewhere last year, that he can. When Coachella was announced I thought, "So, is this the end of Russell's involvement now?" and was thinking how, although I might see them again as a five piece, I really wouldn't be too bothered to seeing 80% of Pulp playing The Hits yet again. But maybe this is a good sign...?
my sister lives in america and is terrified of flying. the last time she came over to the uk her husband bought her a cruise to get home! then they had to drive from wherever they docked on the east side all the way through to arizona. maybe russell will be sailing over, it only takes 5 days!
Wow, that would take 5 days on a ship to get to the east coast, then at least 3 days on a bus with double drivers to get to Palm Springs...that would be pretty hardcore...
Coachella is taking place over two weekends this year, and Pulp are scheduled to play both weekends. Does that mean weekend 2 is just a repeat of the same line-up as weekend 1? Does a single ticket get you into both weekends?
I find this all very strange. Aren't festivals supposed to be magical once-in-a-lifetime events?
Yes, weekend 2 is a repeat of weekend 1. A ticket gets you access into only 1 weekend.
This is the first time they're trying this, I think the reasoning is to accommodate more people. Maybe it makes the festival more appealing to bands as well (having a week to settle in, probably getting paid twice as much), since they put a lot of effort into enticing bands that aren't doing every other festival in the country. I think Coachella stands out from all of the other festivals here, with the unique lineups, well-organized grounds (so I hear), and since people can actually camp out and get the true festival experience. Most festivals here aren't as well-established as the festivals in Europe.

Both weekends sold out within 3 hours. Next year will inevitably sell out both weekends in a blind presale. They finally made Coachella their American Glastonbury.
