I count Pulp as my second favourite band, after Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd*. & therefore my favourite "current" band, having re-emerged over the summer.

So who's your favourite band of all time? Is it really Pulp? No one will blame you if it is!

*I count Pink Floyd as 3 bands...

Hmmm, in actual fact, after the Reading & Brixton shows I'm starting to think Pulp ARE my favourite band.
I have asked you a question I don't have an answer to!

Pulp. Without a shadda. Followed by Eels then Divine Comedy then magnetic fields. I'm heavily into rap as well but I put that on a seperate scale.

No I love Pulp, but my favourite band would probably be Bright Eyes. They are in my top ten, though.

Boring answer but definately Pulp. I like other bands, other songs of course, but I wouldn't ever describe myself as being really into music. I am, however, into Pulp in a big way.

Pulp - by a mile, absolutely no question about it . Talking Heads second then it becomes a bit more blurred (not referring to the band) including the Smiths, Arctic Monkeys etc.

Indeed they are, by a long, long chalk. Then (again) The Divine Comedy. Then a few others, no particular order...

Pulp are definitely without a doubt my favorite band. I first started to listen to them back in 2001, and it hasn't let up since! I'm probably one of the few American hardcore fans, however, there can't be all that many over here...most people give a blank stare when I mention "Pulp" followed by "who's that?"!

If anyone asks I'll always say Pulp, Soft Machine and The Yummy Fur, but in all honesty Pulp are always going to be the first.

Quite simply put... Yes.

they are the reason I live and breathe music and why I learned how to play piano and guitar, then onto writing my own songs. In my life all the great music I have heard - I heard it because I heard Pulp first and realised music is ace!

I was lucky enough to get the chance to tell Jarvis this and somebody snapped a photograph

< There it is to your left!

He said, "Thank you."

Pulp are equal favourite with a few others for me, but I listen to them less than some other artists just because they have relatively little material.

I probably listen to the Fall more than anything else (i discovered them through the pulp website).

Until a couple of years ago I would have said Portishead but now it's definitely Pulp. Roxy Music (Eno era) and Scritti Politti are my other obsessions. And, at the moment, I'm playing Metronomy's new album a lot.

Relatively little?! God knows what you must make of people who worship The Stone Roses or The La's then...

And there aren't any music forums that I've posted more on than this,                  thankfully. So it has to be Pulp for me.

I love all sorts of different types of music and have several music obsessions such as Suede, Morrissey/The Smiths, Nick Cave & Ther Bad Seeds, Tom Waits etc but I think I can honestly hand on heart say that Pulp are my favourite band. I never thought they were finished in 2002! This is the only fan forum I post onand I have to say that since I started I've loved it. Love Pulp love it's fans!

I think the only band that means more to me is The Beatles, but it's close. In the past I'd have said the Smiths too. But it took them reforming to make me realise how much they meant to me. I worshipped them from 95 onwards but after the split/hiatus I didn't really listen all that often. Once the reformation was announced I became completely obsessed and bored everyone, especially my wife, silly with it. I became obsessed with wanting them to play Glasto (as I'm sure people on here noticed!), as I wanted my wife to see how amazing they are live, because she'd never seen them but was a fan of theirs. The only news to eclipse them for me this year was my wife becoming pregnant, which sadly meant she missed Glasto. Not many bands could make me cry out loud the way Pulp did when they played Something Changed that weekend. We'd danced to it at our wedding and, wishing she was there with our unborn baby, had me sobbing like a big girl, and I really wish our friend didn't see me do it! I'm now praying for these rumours of something happening in 2012 to come true, and by then we'll have a son/daughter and can see Pulp together at last!

They're my life's soundtrack. Oh, there are others, but only incidental music... when I'm riding in a lift for example, or shopping in the Co-op.

Pulp, on the other hand, are the opening credits... the meditative preambles and moments of realisation... and one day, I dare say, the exit music...

As actions speak louder than words, they are my favorite band.  I have seen them a dozen or so times from 1993-present, but can't think of any other band I have seen more than four times.  I even once went to see them way down the bill in Kentish Town with the Boo Radleys headlining.  I can't think of any other band I would go to see in preference to Pulp.
