I'm sure in an interview in Vox in 95 Jarvis said something mildly derogatory about the Smiths, but it's clear he must like them now, other than PJ Harvey they must be one of his most played artists on his show!

See 4:45 (and Russell's comment at 5:45 biggrin.gif)

Pulp interview (1995)

Thought I remember Russell making some stronger derogatory comments about Morrissey, but I can't remember where...

Just found this linked on the morrissey-solo forum.

http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnews/tv_and_showbiz/s/1462307_pulp-frontman-jarvis-cocker-reveals-jealousy-over-morrissey-and-the-smiths

Really loved that interview twiggy, the look on Jarvis face when Russell tells himhis opinion re. IT and Hand in Glove is priceless.

what? "Pulp fans, though, will be sad to hear that Jarvis has no plans to tour with his old band again." Is this not completely contrary to what he said about concerts in Spring?

Wow...thanks for that twiggy. How on earth did you dig that up?

A pity the interviewer was pretty piss-poor and Russell didn't talk more. Jarvis ever the entertaining interviewee.

Loved the comment about Blur nicking the drum intro from Love Is Blind for Sunday Sunday! I think some of us have mentioned that before.

I actually came across the interview whilst digging around to find the "No Sleep Till Sheffield" documentary...in case anyone has not seen it (I know, I'm probably the only one):
