There are stills of the three videos/broadcasts listed below on Pulp wiki. I presume the first is from 'Hits', but does the presence of New Sessions and Stage One stills indicate that these are in circulation somewhere...?
- Sheffield Bands 84-85 (Mark of the Devil, Manon)
I think most of the latter is on youtube? And I think a DVD release of it is pending (ITV licensed out a lot of their concert footage to Elm Media earlier this year I think).
The only Pulp footage from the 80s in circulation to my knowledge are on the Hits and Beat Is The Law (80's Special + Fanfare For The Common People) DVDs.
As for the New Sessions, I think there was talk of those of us interested contributing to buy a disc of it from ITV (I think they were looking for the best part of £200 and obviously didn't want any copies being made). It may or may not appear on the aforementioned DVD. Let's hope so.
Do a search on the forum and you'll find previous threads on them.
Ah right. A cursory search of Youtube hadn't revealed anything. Thanks for the explanations!
The Elm Media thing I did examine, though. It looks like it'll be a long, slow process before anything comes out of them, though. They aren't exactly over-stocked with releases at the moment.
Presumably someone somewhere's got access to New Sessions already, though. Else I'm assuming there wouldn't be photos of the same on the Wiki...?
The New Sessions and Stage One stills on the wiki are mine. Someone kindly sent me copies of these recently. I've been reluctant to put them on YouTube or otherwise upload them because they look like being commercially released soon anyway. If the commerical release fails to materialise, I will certainly share them.
Regarding 'Sheffield Bands 84-85', the stills are indeed from the Hits DVD. Incidentially, I'm not sure how edited down the version on Hits is - the Manon video obviously isn't on there.
Thanks for that Eamonn! Now to try and get my ageing computer to make mp3s out of them. That is a hell of a good set, too!
Will, thanks for letting us know.
Perhaps the suggested 'We Love Life' petition could be similarly copied and aimed towards Elm Media in an attempt to make them realise that there's a die-hard and ready audience for this sort of thing...
Wow! On listening to Stage One, I realise that I had this on audio tape years ago. Used to play it on my Walkman as I went for lengthy night time walks in North Wales during my first year at Uni. Funny how memory deceives tho. I'd remembered Space starting this gig, just prior to the 'creche' comments!
