Oh that's cruel fred. I saw them play on their 'breakthrough' tour at the Leadmill. I enjoyed them rather, it was only spoiled by having to stand next to Caitlin Moran. She was writing their first piece for NME, they had a double page centre spread the next week!
aha not yet, I'm a bit strapped for cash so I bought the Inspiral Carpets ('life') instead which I'm really enjoying! Magnetic Fields are next on the agenda though
I wrote most of the wiki entry on Menswear. Not a great boast, I was just on there in about 2004, looking for bands that hadn't been written about yet. They weren't a great band, but they seem to have caught the worst of the britpop backlash. Stardust (along with a few others) is just a great pop song. The second album is really for completists only. It's straight up, irony-free country rock, and only two or three tracks are any good.
