Oh? I thought "Dance Jarvis! Dance!" was a Bowie reference. I'd like to hear a solo album called "Jarvis Cocker Rides Again" full of original country & western tunes. Jarvis could start wearing a cowboy hat and a bolo tie. Then he should follow it up with an album of ambient space music.

Blur and The Verve haven't officially split again either have they, I'm a lot more sure of Pulp playing more gigs than The Verve again. Not as certain as I am that Blur will play again though.

Dance Jarvis! Dance! sounds like a great name for a band. As does "The Warhol Amps" come to think of it.

Ha! Apologies. I'm used to the internet being a great deal meaner than everyone is on this forum.

It seems i'm in the minority view anyway.

Back on the subject, I doubt we'll see Russell or Mark on stage w. Pulp again, but I don't think that means Pulp are gone.

I still think something in Sheffield should/would crop up soon... I'd be surprised if they didn't hold a gig there. But that could be wishful thinking, I really don't know if it is or it isn't...

Then again, seeing as they're the two who've had to re-learn their instruments from scratch, you might argue that they're the ones who've invested most in this reunion!

Pulp never officially split in 2002.  Just went on a hiatus.   Not really sure how Pulp can ever really split as strictly speaking they only have one original member.   Jarvis solo could almost be thought of as Pulp mk 4.  I think that Pulp, or at the very least Jarvis, will play again, but it won't necessarily be the Summer 2011 line-up.

I expect a Jarvis Cocker release of some form or another late in the year.  Maybe with Pulp.  Maybe not.

It's not entirely clear what the question was (presumably: "will you play more shows?") but I think these quotes are from someone who stood outside Brixton to meet the band last week (she's posted some lovely photos from the show and with the band members afterwards):
Smackeys you never know ;), candidas Id like to, russells I hope so and nicks could be, could be if they leave forever now it is consequently jarvis fault.

The vagueness of their replies doesn't make me very hopeful, but at least none of them said 'no'.

I also expect a Jarvis-related record very late this year or more likely in the first half of 2012. The band did spend a fair amount of time on their own, from the announcement of their coming-back to the first show. So it could be that there were some songs written/rehearsed/demoed. Also if the bandmembers indeed did not say a firm 'No' to the question mentioned above and I would so that even Candida and Russell, who are IMHO the most reluctant to enter this business again, I would not exclude the possibility of a Pulp album.

Although, it would be a shame not to have these small Jarvis gigs anymore with his own songs.

Given how long it took for Further Complications to be released after he first mentioned working on it I wouldn't expect a solo album this year or next - but he might promise one this year or next.

The Verve definitely split again according to Nick. I'd expect more Blur, they do talk about it every now and then don't they. I like to think there will be 1 more Pulp show, and I'm surprised the USA dates never materialised. I don't think they would do an album, and I think maybe its best they don't (unless it was the complete "classic" line-up).

In terms of reunions, can we do a trade with the US. They send us Guided By Voices and we send them Pulp now?

The Verve did indeed split up again. Two members of The Verve reported in the press that Ashcroft didn't even speak to them anymore after their last gig. The two earlier splits (1995 and 1997) were also because of bad relations. Rumors say that Ashcroft only did reform The Verve to give his own solo career a kick in the butt. Which didn't really materialize, since his latest hip-hop project United Nations of Sound was a flop.

I was there when they said those and they all smiled as they said it... personally I think it's all down to Jarvis and Mark (both didn't bother to stop).

Well obviously Pulp can't really go on without Jarvis, it all hinges on whether he is interested...

Don't see why he shouldn't be really, if he's going to carry on writing music anyway

But Jarvis' radio career is only just beginning really, I can see why he'd want to concentrate on that, especially as his show has been such a resounding success.

Isn't there room for both? An hour a week (plus admittedly, the prep he does for it but still...) shouldn't hinder him from active band duties.
Or maybe it's more that having regular work on the radio has fostered an attitude of semi-retirement within him - the odd reunion tour etc is fine if it comes along but I'll stick to spinning records now. It would be a shame as he really seemed to have the bug back for making music with his 'new' band on the last solo record, particularly during the pre-album tour.

Yeah, but someone from that band died. I guess that bums you out a bit to say the least.

He probably only gets a bit of pocket money for that.   I can't imagine the BBC paying top dollar for a Sunday afternoon show with a few hundred listeners.

Jarvis probably has plenty to keep him busy, but I'm sure he will keep making records.  Just not sure if it will be solo or Pulp v5.0

Of course. Strangely, if Tim hadn't died, Jarvis and him could be writing or releasing the third solo album now and Pulp wouldn't have got back together.

Saw the Tweet and I read it as a goodbye. I've been utterly depressed and desperately searching for news since.

Very pleased to have found this site with other very obviously obsessed Pulp People - nice to meet you!
