What is that red guitar Russell is playing on this tour? It's some type of Fender, right? It doesn't look like any of the guitars he played in Pulp during the '90s. (Strat, Jazzmaster, etc.)

Sincerely,
A guitar nerd who doesn't play guitar

Dunno for sure, but I believe it is a Burns guitar or perhaps a heavily modified Fender. Does anyone have any better pictures of it?

Fairly clueless on guitars but I assumed it was a Fender Jaguar for some reason. Looks rather like the one Debbie used to play in Venini.

I believe it's a 'Fiesta Red' H/S/S Fender Strat (Fat Strat), but with a custom scratchplate and tuners (at the very least). The scratchplate looks very Burns-esque with the curved 'horn' toward the arse-end of the guitar and the extra bit below the bridge - but everything else about it looks Fender to me, and the headstock is a dead giveaway. I can't be totally sure, but the buttons/switches on the scratchplate (which I at first thought was just decal) seem to be phasing/pickup selection switches. Certainly not the stock electronics setup of any Fender I've ever seen before - but they look very cool.

The stage and the crowd were too far apart at Wireless to discern anything else in person - but I'll definitely be looking at Brixton to see if I can spot any more details.

It looks a teeny bit different to me.... The Venini guitar looks smoother round the edges?

The headstock does indeed look like a Fender, but the body doesn't. The edges look less curved than on a Stratocaster. Even the place where the guitarstrap is put onto the guitar is way different. My guess is that is a personally build guitar, with parts from several models. Perhaps a Burns body or even a weird Japanese guitar body and a Fender bridge and headstock.

Yes, good point about the edges being smoother. Hadn't spotted that. Seems to be the same basic model though.

Very unlikely it's a Fender. Probably one of the many offset/Strat inspired guitars that came out of Japan in the 60s and 70s. Possibly a Teisco.

Yes, it's a Jazzmaster style trem, but smaller than the Fender kind.

Speaking of guitars, does anyone know the type of guitar Jarvis plays in the Something Changed video? is it one of those weirded out Japanese guitars with the effects all built into the body?

It's a Vox Marauder. Great looking thing, and yes, it has effect switches built in.

Hello everyone - Russell's guitar is a '60s Futurama DeLuxe. http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/hofnerfs/futurama/cat7.jpeg

They were made by Hagstrom, who are still very well regarded, and appeared under a few different names and models.

Always had to be different, did Russell.
