Does anyone have any quotes, or inklings, or just plain hopes about what the future might hold for this tour?
I'm pretty sceptical that they'll still be playing next year, (expecially since they'll have played every big festival in the UK already).
The reason I'm asking is that if it's looking like Electric Picnic will be the last ever Pulp gig, should I fork out the ridiculous price for a day ticket to Reading or Leeds?
Or is there a short UK arena tour in December on the cards?
Keen to hear thoughts, would hate to shell out on a Reading ticket and have them announce a tour in a few weeks, but would be absolutely gutted to keep waiting and find that Electric Picnic is their last ever show.
I think an arena tour is unlikely- they'd possibly struggle to fill them. Maybe a smaller scale tour like the WLL one. It's a strange one: without any new material and having played a lot of very similar sets why bother having a UK tour at all? Then again, the reception has been very positive and they seem to have been enjoying it. Hmmmmm.
I have heard from Americans as well as in the press here that they are looking at at least a couple of US dates. I reckon maybe 5 or 6 US dates in Novemeber, Christmas in Yorkshire then done. I think that is fine, well done to them. Looking forward to Brixton, wish they could be in NYC when I am there in October.
Better safe than sorry. Go to Reading or Leeds. Leeds would be better since they are properly headlining.
I doubt the US tour is happening. Any tour that significant would have been announced by now. October-November are already insanely overcrowded concert months, so you gotta get in early before people can't go because they have other commitments or blew all their money.
I'm sceptical about a tour stretching into next year, but I would have thought that if Electric Picnic was their last ever concert, they would have at least mentioned it by now, if only to give people one last chance to get to a gig.
I'll hold out for a bit, since Leeds hasn't sold out and isn't looking likely to, and see what happens. Perhaps they'll have a one off 'last ever show' in Sheffield at Christmas, and bill it as such.
Surely this time round they'd rather go out with a little bit of a bang rather than a fizzle? I dunno, perhaps it's just wishful thinking.
