Tempted to go aswell... I wonder will it take on a similar structure to his ''Saying The Unsayable'' lecture on lyrics a couple of years ago where he played some of his solo and Pulp songs too.

I hope so. I must admit I couldn't believe my luck when I saw this and then The Divine Comedy said they were gigging in Stratford Upon Avon - and I live smack in the middle between the two.

I had thought he'd just be waffling on about the lyrics but playing some stuff would be ace.

I have consoled myself today by booking tickets for this. Hopefully they'll be a Q&A and he'll be signing books. And I may be able to go to the Divine Comedy as well as I have to be in Swindon the next day for work anyway (the problem with living in Cornwall is that it's bloody miles from anywhere).

Yep, booked my ticket yesterday (they won't send it to Ireland ''hard times'' apparently. FFS...add on 50p for the extra postage), have to collect it beforehand from some ticket collection point. Nice to meet you the other night by the way Deborah. I expect an equally impressive review to Jarvis' book as you gave to the 'Uncommon' one.

Oh, and where/when are Divine Comedy playing?

Yes, good to meet you at Brixton, Eamonn, and I'll look out for you at Cheltenham. Perhaps drinks with any forum people going beforehand? Am very envious about Electric Picnic - looks like a great festival.

Neil Hannon from Divine Comedy is playing a solo show at the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon on Sunday 30 October. Never managed to see him live - am v tempted to go!

If my driving test last week hadn't been the most traumatic experience ever I might have made the trip my celebratory tour!

I'll be getting an early flight from Dublin, after a sleepless night in the airport, I'll have to get some kip once I book in to the hotel in Cheltenham.
Any idea how many people will be at this Deborah?

Not sure about capacity, Eamonn. I looked at the festival website yesterday and there are still tickets left. We've just managed to reorganise childcare so that we can get to Cheltenham late on Friday. Have you looked at other stuff at the festival? We're going to the talk on photos of Captain Scott's antarctic expedition and then Guardian cartoonist Steve Bell in conversation with Simon Hoggart. Am tempted to add Grace Dent in the afternoon but think it might be overload.

I just bought some last minute tickets. I am due to spend Saturday decorating my daughter's room and decided I needed a reward - I live in Bristol so easy trip for me luckily. As to the capacity, the plan on the website has about 1100 seats and the ones I just bought are pretty near the back, row XA, so assuming they started at the front that's virtually full.

Yes, for sale at Cheltenham. Nice intro by Jarvis, followed by lyrics and then notes on them. Beautifully designed in usual very simple faber style. Orange, brown and cream endpapers like '70s wall paper.

Cool. I both do and don't want to know more. I think I want some surprises such as which songs are included.

And he talked about "Pulp maybe doing something in the spring", not in French this time either.

Groovy, but more gigs will only appeal for so long. Even if they just did a Blur and released one song that would be something.

Jarvis in conversation with John Wilson from radio 4. Will post more details tomorrow. Eamonn and I both had our books signed and had photos taken with Jarvis. He wrote me a lovely dedication: Deborah it does suit you.
