My parents recently upped-sticks and moved to Holmfirth, which means I often pass through Shefffield when I travel from London to visit them.
As we drive from the station, the geek in me is thrilled by the Pulp-based landmarks we pass: the traffic island by the station, Catcliffe, the Wicker... And when we next visit, thanks to Pulpwiki's disclosure of it's location, we're going to pop into the cafe at Forge Dam and have a wee drink (and maybe give that child's toy horse ride some much needed attention).
But to be honest, not being local, the road signs and cafe are the only locations I know about. Can anybody please point us in the direction of some of the less-obvious Pulp landmarks? Places, perhaps, that relate the history of the band or to the many throw-away references in the lyrics?
I know that a guide to 'Pulp's Sheffield' was given away in the early days, but I've only ever found thumbnails and can never read the text.
It's beyond me, I'm afraid, but this seems like the kind of project that would sit very well on Pulpwiki - an interactive map with points of interest for fans making a pilgrimage...
Thanks very much Sturdy - I'd missed that. I've also just dug this up (http://www.acrylicafternoons.com/pulp.html) from 1993. But a lot has happened since '93 & '98, so any other pointers would be gratefully received.
especially the viaduct & the site of the old Trebor factory from Wickerman.
