what do people think are the chances of pulp carrying on the reunion and doing more concerts (if not a tour) in 2012 or sometime soon? Or even some new material which, although I doubt it, is possible. I am interested to know because even though I've still got the Brixton concert, Im becoming quite worried about the prospect of not seeing them live after that!
Going by Jarvis's comments from Splendour last night up in Queensland - Their reunion may be shortlived Jarvis told the huge crowd that This could be the last time we ever play in Australia but theres no sense that the band is simply churning through a back catalogue of old hits. I dont think we will ever get them back in Australia. sigh**

You do remember it wasn't that long ago when he was saying that Pulp wouldn't reform at all?!
All I know is that stranger things have happened.....hope they play forever. Maybe not forever but as long as they're all enjoying it....fence sitter i know, but its the truth.
I guess it just comes down to how much they've enjoyed themselves.
They certainly look it, but man, how repetitious the set lists have looked! I just remember Candida et al's paraphrased comments in Truth and Beauty: how they'd sooner pack it all in than play "Disco 2000" and "Babies" again after such intense touring...
Can you imagine Jarvis recording another solo album after all this is over? And if so, will he miss the sort of response that currently greets "Do You Remember the First Time?" when he's striking the opening chords of "Pilchards"?
Of course, it's not entirely his call. Either way, I think it'll be within the next couple of years or never again. Frequent 'reunions' will enable them to plumb the depths of their catalogue a little more without feeling (perhaps) obliged to pummel the hits.

Yes and..yes. Even if some of Jarvis solo stuff is good I dare say that it don't stands up to many Pulp songs. Maybe this could be an eye-opener to him.
I just hope they dont go the way The Pixies have done. When did they start playing again? 2004? and they're still wandering around the globe playing Doolittle. I hope Jarvis keeps up his solo stuff - its different to Pulp and I hope he keeps doing interesting things - I have this weird thing and have for a number of years, what if Pulp and or Jarvis made a record with Eno. Could be well interesting.
I've been getting into Eno recently, particularly his generative stuff. You might be interested in "http://radio.rumblesan.com:8000/radio.ogg", which is an online generative radio station. It's not working today, but it was yesterday I promise - hopefully any problems will be resolved soon. It's computer-composed ambient noise produced in real time without human intervention.
I've enjoyed Jarvis' solo work, but since Pulp reformed whenever it crops up on the mp3 player I find myself quickly reverting to them... Less so with Relaxed Muscle, perhaps because their material is so very different. I'd rather like to see those songs performed live, but that seems very unlikely indeed.
No Glasto next year but that aside, I suppose it's easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment and say you'll return. Although I think Jarvis would be very much up for it (Nick and Steve too) and probably even writing new stuff. It's the other three who I'd have bigger doubts over wanting to extend the reunion.
superchob - eno is brilliant. I purchased a book written about him last year in London - On Some Faraway Beach - brilliant stuff - he also currated a festival here in Sydney about 2 years ago and I paid $44 to hear him give the opening speech and it was 2 hours of mind-expansion. It was basically a uni lecture, but it was just..the best $44 I ever spent. Best song of Enos - well theres so many, but In Dear Trees and Becalmed - which was played at my Mums funeral last year - was she an Eno fan - nah...
I have high hopes for an extended reunion with a new album to follow. And anything I hear that may contradict this will result in me sticking my fingers in my ears and going 'lalalala.
I sadly think there won't be an other pulp album.. For me this dates just represent the proper Hits tour they should have played when the Hits cd & dvd came out almost 10 years ago. They seem not to be into disco pop songs these days (see jarvis LPs..). I can't imagine a modern "Rock" album of pulp.. (as WLL or TIH) And can you remember the "NOOO " from candida on BBC6, few months ago, as asked if new music could come out ?
I may be desilusioned... but i still believe in a Paris extra date !

I think they may continue to tour in 2012, maybe another round of festivals that summer (including U.S. ones!). I don't expect a new album, but I wouldn't be surprised if the other band members -- not just Steve -- start making occasional appearances on Jarvis' solo albums.
Sarah, Oh I wasnt being harsh! Dam internet - when they toured Australia last, Nick and Jarvis did this tv show and the interviewer asked them what they were doing on their days off in Australia and Jarvis said Candida would go around to Fabric shops and pick up little swatches of fabric to make a patchwork quilt....it was in reference to that. No Candida is really cool and SO GLAD she kept up the sparkles for their reunion gigs!
I'm hoping they'll announce a UK tour at the end of the year. I feel if the reunion's over by the end of summer that some festivals and two Brixton gigs wouldn't be enough, even if they will have played 5 of the major UK fests this year.
