Not read all the liner notes but the packaging is lovely!! Yes, even Separations! All in gatefold sleeves, and Freaks has loads of photos I have never seen before. The inside of Separations has lots of nice glossy "pulpulpulpulpulp..." writing! :)
Those are the CD versions I am talking about by the way...not seen a vinyl version in the wild yet. Would be interested to hear from anyone who has them?
Just ordered It and Freaks from Amazon but everywhere I look says Seperations is not in stock yet? Even HMV still says pre-order and the others don't.....
Try putting on a decent pair of headphones and compare the old CD of "Joking Aside" to the new one.
I know Sturdy said that the 1994 Fire CD of It was taken from tapes, but I have always thought it really sounded like a cleaned up vinyl master...as in a version that has been run through software that removes "crackles".
Quality of audio on most vinyl deteriorates as the stylus gets nearer the centre of the record...so the last half of Joking Aside and Boats and Trains suffered from this terribly on the 1994 CD.
...NOT ANYMORE!!
They sound terrific! Am thrilled with this. Seriously, you have to play the old ones after the new ones and hear the difference!!
Just been in hmv newcastle 15 minutes before closing and they only had freaks in. Then I got to the Pulp albums and they only had Freaks in. i.e. the one i'm not really interested in.

Agreed. It sounds fantastic now! Still not got my discs, but I listened to the web stream on decent headphones last night, and even though that's probably mp3 quality, the difference was immediately apparent.
