oh well, no replies yet, but its a major part of my teen-hood. I was very young when i was a member.. there was an arranged meet in the year 2000.(lets all meet up in the year 2000 styleee) Around march time in Sheffield. I went, by myself and i met about 4-5 other people who were members. One member ended up being my first boyfriend, (i was 16 then!) for over as year. He's still a very VERY good friend, and im going to his wedding this September, he's now 29!!!. Id have never met him without alt.music. lol. but i do wounder about the other people, i met that day, and the people who were on that 'group around the time.

I remember being on it for a while, but I was more into the Lipgloss mailing list, where I spent many hours arguing with Mark Sturdy about the merits of a certain guitar player. Much like here really.

I used to post there as well but my main place has always been here.

As for the mailing lists, Lipgloss was pretty good and I met a few people that I traded with on many occasions. Who could forget the Lipgloss rarities tapes (as mentioned by Sturdy in a previous post)? Some of the posters, however, did have a tendancy to get into long off-topic discussions and clutter up my mailbox with stuff I wasn't interested in.

Separations was good too but the moderation was a little bit strict at times. One extreme to the other!

Countdown, although it was a laugh at times, was almost always off-topic.

Are any of these still going?

I am pretty sure I was one of those annoying offtopic posters. I was on Separations too once that came up.

I was on most of the above - Lipgloss was always the main one for me though, and then it was Bar Italia from about '99/2000 onwards. Separations was good when I was in a geeky mood, and I checked into most of the others at one point or another.

Separations (and Countdown and Razzmatazz?) are still there on Yahoogroups, and Lipgloss was still there on Topica last time I looked. Fortunately the posts archive on the latter doesn't go back to the '97/'98 heyday!
