"Download the Pulp tracks from this compilation, plus Going Back to Find Her, which was recorded at the same time but not used. Bear in mind that these are live recordings probably made using just a microphone and cassette recorder, so the quality isn't great..."
I understand how My First Wife and Don't You Want Me Anymore have survived (presumably through a recording of the tape), but how has Going Back To Find Her been 'leaked'? Surely Mark Webber keeps these things notoriously close to his chest...?
Also, has anyone - other than the person who wrote out the lyrics - heard or got access to the 'other' version of My First Wife, the 'rare' version...?
Am currently enjoying an 'early Pulp' comp I've made for the car. It's got everything on from What Do You Say right (Ken Patten), the four Peel Session tracks, the two Spice demo tracks that are available, the It tracks, Everybody's Problem, I Want You/Coy Mistress, and cuts off halfway through Sudan Gerri, just seven months shy of the first extant gig that's in circulation. It's quite fascinating to hear them develop over this period. I recommend that experience!
My First Wife (1) has a lovely keyboard melody, which goes nicely with Jarvis' reminiscences. Both songs were good enough to demo and record properly in my opinion.
Both live versions should be in the yahoo account, have a look. If they're not there I'll upload them later, have to nip out now for a couple of hours.
I am actually missing this gig. I have a folder for it, but nothing in there!
I was wondering, however, how the Nottingham Barracuda recording of Going Back To Find Her has ended up in the public domain along with the (actually released) versions of First Wife and Don't You Want... from the same venue...
the "other" version of My first wife is not in the yahoo account, I've searched everywhere for it but haven't found it. I asked for it in the Request a bootleg thread, but without result, it would be great Eamonn if you could upload it!!
Freek, are you the Freek Claassen who exists on Soulseek? If so, then many thanks over the last year or so for the amount of your mp3s you've let me plunder :)
Thanks, Eamonn. Do you know if the rest of that gig is in circulation or not...? It falls at a very interesting time for the band and it'd be great to have it!
