G'day from Australia!

I was gutted to come travelling whilst Pulp were re-uniting, so thankgod I cross paths with them on this date!

I saw an ad today - it said 'they will be playing songs from ALL eras, and so that  means your favorites etc etc'. So will someone replace Russell?

Also, is anyone else off here going, as the friend I am traveling with can't afford the $86 to see a band he doesn't care too much for!

Less than two weeks to go now, I can't wait!

Hi Barcroft, I am going!! I actually just got back from London after seeing them in Hyde Park and am also seeing them in Perth and Sydney. Have tickets for SPlendour as well but I dont think I'll be able to go. But 3 times in 1 week.....cant get much better than that!

Should be fun, and no Russell isnt coming - hates planes. I think if British Sea Power are in Melbourne at the same time as they are playing Splendour as well, they could get one of them to do Russells parts. i'm hoping for a few extra tracks off This is Hardcore, Party Hard, The Fear and Dishes would be great, but they could just stand there playing white noise and I'd be pretty happy.

cutters.

Hi Barcroft,

I shall be there as well with a friend of mine.

Seeing a lot of Pulp to make up for lost time *cough*fourtimes*cough*

what brings you over here and how long are you with us?

I would imagine that they would get a replacement for Russell, but I have no idea who that may be.

Couldn't imagine them getting a replacement for more than the violin part on CP. They've managed without him so far, so I imagine Australia will just happen as a 6 piece

If anyone of you guys fancy a drink before the gig, and can recommend a good bar / pub then I'm in.

I'll be looking to get there and in the venue quite early, as I want to get pretty close to the front as it's my first and possibly only Pulp gig if they don't carry on after next February (when I return from travelling)!

I'm over here for 3 months or more in Melbourne and am currently looking for a job, before we travel the rest of Australia and then Asia (will maybe extend if the need arises!)

I'm hoping for a similar set-list to the UK gigs, but some TIH would be good, and maybe some really early stuff too, so fingers crossed that play a massive set!!

I saw them in Perth too! Id be happy to meet up for a drink and like Barcroft, plan on getting to the venue early. I've heard Bar Humbug is good and kind of close to Festival Hall.

Was Russell in Germany? Setlist.fm says that they played OU there, but can't imagine that without the violin which is usually very prominent!

Well in Perth, they had someone from Modest Mouse on violin duties, and going by various festival write ups - its been someone from British Sea Power and then someone from Arcade Fire.....so who knows....and it was only for Common People...

Didnt make it too Splendour barcroft - sold my ticket - it was just too much, and I had to work the next day - I had already had taken most of my annual leave to go and see them - Its easier to get to London that Splendour!! Had friends who went and updated me with texts throughout the gig. Apparently a big waft of 'waste' floated over whilst Pulp were playing! A lasting memory for them....

LeoVK - Yeah, he was at Germany (thanks youtube) I think he did all the European gigs with maybe one or two rare exception.
