My mum vetoed it on the grounds it's in Brixton (which is apparently dodgy) and because she seems to have lost the ability to be positive about anything. I offered to buy her a ticket as well and all!! Talk about generous :P

I'm trying to figure out a way around it though, so if you can think of anything it would be most appreciated :D

probably too late now, but may be worth mentioning that it is right next to a police station & that will be plenty of other like minded people there, so you'll practically have an escort to & from the venue

There are some on ebay . You'll be looking at spending £50+ but really, at this stage, you could do a lot worse especially given that prices will escalate in the next few weeks. I'm just relieved to have got my ticket for the 31st.

I wanted both dates, but took my eye off the ball a bit this morning, probably because I already have 31st Aug ticket. Suppose I just assumed there would be no mad rush over the 2nd date selling out - WRONGO! Interestingly, there are still Morrsissey ticket available for Brixton, which also went on general sale this morn - looks lik Pulp is currently more popular than Morrissey!

I think I'm going to resist the tempation to pay over the odds on ebay, or any other dodgy place and take my chance with the touts on the day. Or maybe someone will be selling a spare on here nearer the time - you know how it is when less fanatical mates pull out, work commitments etc.

I dunno, maybe they will announce a UK tour and people won't get ripped off.  Only doing 31st Aug as I still expect another date in Nov/Dec.

Why wouldn't they be?  If it was Morrissey and Marr play The Smiths, then perhaps it would be close, but as he does a lot of the less than great solo material then Pulp doing their greatest hits and more is always going to be mroe popular.  Also Pulp tickets were £10 less.  Given what some acts are charging these days, Pulp is a bargain.

Anyway my wife will be happy I got the Morrissey tickets this morning, sadly not at the Palladium, but instead at Brixton, but it will probably work out better as it is a Sunday night.

I got Morrissey for Brixton - didn't fancy the palladium as I had an image in my head of it all being a bit more reserved and well behaved. I think maybe the Morrissey tickets haven't sold as as he has done quite a few other dates recently. Morrissey has a HUGE hardcore fanbase, so I think it is a enormous achievement that Pulp have sold out faster.

I can't believe it's sold out so quickly! In a way I'm pleased to see Pulp appear to be recieving more love than ever but more importantly I'd have liked to have got a ticket for that second date!

The Smiths do, but Morrissey less so in recent years.  Not had an issue getting tickets for his gigs in the past, though the prices are always higher than most.  Maybe his fans are selective in the gigs they attend.  But he has been touring on and off for the last twenty odd years, so maybe the interest is waning.

Pulp haven't been on a stage for nine years (or maybe 15 if you consider the full line up), so it is bound to generate more interest.  A couple of years down the line it may be different.

That I would like a ticket for. smile  Pulp would win due to sheer numbers, but I think Morrissey would have most of Pulp on a one to one basis, bar Nick and probably Steve.

I really wasn't surprised it sold out so quickly after the publicity surrounding Glastonbury and Wireless.  By the time they have done T in the Park and Reading/Leeds the weekend before, a lot of people will want to see Pulp, especially if the shows are broadcast on the BBC.

I failed miserably at getting tickets for 1st September - after waiting in the Ticketweb queue it finally came up, I typed all my details in, even went through to the card password authentication page, and then it just came up with System Error. I was completely gutted, as I didn't get tickets for 31st August (I have to work that day) either.

Luckily though, my girlfriend's friend had bought three spare tickets for 1st September and has offered us two! She's made my day, she really has - they're seated mind, but I really don't care, I'm just glad I'm going to be there at all. And after the madness of Wireless, it will be nice to sit comfortably and pay more attention to the music and stage, and not have to worry about staying on my feet or whose elbow that is in my back

I'm going to keep checking back at SeeTickets every now and again just to be sure. Many times in the past, long after an event has been "sold out", I have seen more tickets become available seemingly out of nowhere.

Otherwise, looks like it may be tout time! :(

It does happen, if people have ordered tickets but been unable to pay for some reason (usually not enough money in their account or mis-typed card details). I wish you lots of luck, and if I hear of anyone offering a spare I'll let you know...

Oh well Pip, that is not so bad in the end!

I wanted both dates, but only managed to get for the second, I shouldn't be so greedy though as I am seeing them at Leeds, and already seen them twice this year...

I am totally skint though, also got a Moz ticket for Brixton (as it;s by birthday!!!) SKINTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT is the word of the day!!!!

Thanks. Yeah, well I already have two tickets for the first night, albeit upstairs seated. Was planning to go along just by myself on the second night so that I can stand and have a "jump around" night.

I'll make sure I get there, either way. ;)

Skint is definitely the word of the day!

If Pulp do tour in the winter I'm going to have to delve into my savings or eat beans on toast for a month!

Towards the end of their interview with Steve Lamacq, they say something about future tours, so I'm hopeful :) Even if reviews of Sunday do seem to be making a lot of Jarvis' comment about 'see you in another 15 years'.

Didn't manage to get tickets for either date, not sure what to do...if it's touts/ebay maybe better off striking early.
Frustrating that the gigs are being announced in dribs and drabs to gauge demand...surely they know enough by now that there would be high demand to do a nationwide tour. (I'd rather see them in Sheff than London)

Even worse, the 1st September date wasn't even announced, nor is it on the Pulp People page.  Would have been fairer to put that on sale next week due to "unprecedented demand" and give people a chance to get the tickets.

Maybe the tour hasn't been planned (yet), but as they had a couple of free nights between Leeds and Ireland, they just set up a couple of dates. Bands often do one off warm up gigs prior to festivals in London.  I have caught a few decent (and reasonably priced) gigs thanks to that.

I expect a fully fledged UK tour in November/December.  Only trouble is with the amount of interest in these gigs they may be playing bigger venues than Brixton.  Just hope they opt for Ally Pally/Earl's Court rather than The O2 or Wembley.

It's just one of those phrases used by concert organisers to try and create a buzz and maximise interest.

I just had another look on ticketmaster and it redirected me to Get me In - they have tickets for both nights on there for around £55. I don't think I can bring myself to line the pockets of the scum that deprive real fans of tickets as soon as they go on sale, and then take advantage of them by selling to them at a profit. It's adding insult to injury.

Not so sure, Morrissey does a fair amount of weights and has bulked out a bit in recent years.  I reckon it would be close.

Hey guys, scarletmist.com is a fantastic site for getting tickets for face value. You won't see tickets straight away but in the run up to the gig guaranteed you will see tickets on there. You need to set up an email alert and only a certain number of email alerts are allowed for each event. So if you dont mind waiting a bit and dont want to pay the tout prices I definitely recommend it, I've never bought off ebay thanks to that site.

A friend bought extra tickets and donated extras to a good cause... i.e. me! So I now get to go to 2nd night hurrah! I wouldn't be suprised if there's at least 1 more night announced and then I can imagine November will be UK tour time! It's a shame that most probably after that we'll be back in limbo as they'll probably duck their heads back into the wilderness. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

just looked up tickets on ebay to see how much people are selling them for - really sickening. I thought there were just a few selling tickets but there are pages of bastards selling tickets at ridiculous prices. Im outraged, probably there were more people who bought tickets just to sell them than people who want to go and actually managed to buy a ticket

Hi I know I'm a newbie here but I wouldn't advise anyone to try and get tickets through GetMeIn - been badly ripped off there in the past - you are at the mercy of the person who 'claims' have to tickets to sell you.

Anyway thanks to the link earlier in this thread I managed to get two seating tickets for thursday - am most grateful - as I missed Wednesday standing tickets by about 10 seconds. I knew about the September 1st date but couldn't find links to buy tickets until I came here.

Habving said that I really want a standing ticket:

Is anyone willing to swap a standing ticket for either night for a seated ticket for Thursday? Mine are only e - tickets I'm afraid, but I will go to any length to prove I am genuine.

Cheers for reading smile

I wish ebay and other ticket selling sites + the government would get knock their heads together and sort this out. There was talk of it a couple of years ago and wasn't there a bill passed but as far as I can see there's been no change. Should be illegal to sell a ticket for more than it's face value.

A pair of tickets went for £82 yesterday on Ebay. Not each, that's for both tickets. With booking fee and ebay costs your tout hardly made a penny. I think you're right and they've grabbed too many.

THEN there is this thing, where "ticketsellercompanies" (scum) sell tickets for 1 euro if the show hasn't been sold out, leaving people who genuinely cannot go out of pocket because no one will buy it off you at facevalue.

Ticket web had e-tickets.  I have proper tickets, but would prefer the e-tickets as meeting people in pub before is always a pain when someone is late.

Would be nice if people on fourm could swap/trade, but I have to confess I am not too trusting of new posters as I have had problems in the past with people who wanted tickets and didn't turn up on night.

Luckily didn't cost me as it was a friend's ticket who had paid, but unless you have been a member for a few years and have at least 100 posts then I wouldn't really want to be buying/selling (moderator hat on here).

Currently have a fantasy about these gigs just being COMPLETELY different from anything done at the festivals. Opening with a song like "Love Is Blind" or something like that, just like the Drury Lane set in 1994.

At times I trick myself into thinking it is almost possible!

I don't want to go to a tout or a someone selling for profit: but if anyone has a ticket (preferably two!) for sale for either date, please let me know: I'll bite your hand off (in a good way...)

And yeah, Mr. Leo - I love to think this a is more of a 'fan's' concert - opening with some forgotten classic. Blue Girls was mighty fine at Edinburgh, and I really, really hope they'd play OU again - I still can't believe how fine that sounded on the Toulouse recording... Though in reality, I feel it'll be the hits. Which I'd still love, of course.

I'm anticipating a set that might be quite similar to Toulouse, or maybe slightly shorter...ie. the "Festival Set" followed by an encore with a couple of obscurities.

What I would really like though is just for the set to be completely re-jigged. All songs, old AND new(er) thrown together, rather than just "here's a couple of old ones now" and then back to the A-list.

No doubt they would shy away from playing anything like the Drury Lane set again but, if they did, I think they might be pleasantly surprised by just how many of the older songs the crowd might know now. As someone said in another thread; gone are the days where people just know the hits. The people going to see Pulp now are people who buy the whole albums, not just the singles, and know all the words to all the album tracks.

We are also now living in a world where a search for Pulp on iTunes will bring up the whole catalogue...even the old Fire albums...so buyers are bound to have got curious and had a listen to the pre-Island years. Previously, the only way that the casual listener would stumble across the old records would be if they were lucky enough to find one lone, dusty old copy sitting right at the very back of the "Pulp" section in HMV. Now they are available to the world in infinite quantities.

I don't think I'd really want them to play anything pre-Separations.  After all the line up was quite different, so you'd probably end up with half of them walking off while Jarvis, Candida and Russell did their bit.

I'm not sure people know too much Pulp outside His 'n' Hers and Different Class judging by the response of the crowd at Wireless.

Glad my tickets for the 2nd night have arrived, just waiting on seetickets for 31st now... I don't expect to hear any songs that haven't been played yet but a mix over the 2 nights of everything that has been played so far. Would love to hear maybe 3 or 4 more off this is hardcore over the 2 nights.

how big is the venue? also.how early do you think you have to arrive to get right to the front? and also is it like at the festivals in that gates/ doors open at a certain time then your waiting around for a while before even the support group starts? sorry for all the questions but i am inexperienced since I've never been too bothered about paying a fair amount of money to see a band play (until now).

circle unreserved means you can sit / stand anywhere available uptairs, so get there early to get a good seat!

If you wanna stand in the front 6/7 rows get there early, otherwise it's never that hard to get forward and have a good view. Generally when people start bouncing around you can bounce yourself towards the front without having to bother anyone particularly.

I wanna be close to the front but can't be arsed with getting there before doors... I don't really wanna get too squished either, it's great for the first 40 minutes but then gets a bit exhausting. 23 and I'm already retiring from the pogo party.

The standing capacity is 3760 (seating upstairs of 1100 or so). It's a long sloping floor (sticky lager-stained carpet...for that authentic indie-rock experience) leading down to the stage. With a couple of small barriers placed randomly near the front if you want to prop against them. Nice, theatrical architecture at the corners of the walls.
It's a great venue, only recently went there for the first time (the first two Suede album shows in May) and had a great view, with perfect sound both nights.

Yeah same here, for the first Suede show. I thought it was a proper class venue like.

Hi there, I'm new here. I have two standing tickets for the September the 1st show, and I would like to swap them for two standing for the Wed show as I'm flying to Ireland for Electric Picnic on the 1st September. I already have the tickets so can meet somewhere in London some time in the coming weeks.

Hello everybody!

my first post here. :)
I have two (possibly three) spare standing tickets for the 31st Aug. gig, for face value of course.
I will go to the gig myself so I'll be able to meet up at the venue on the day.

Please send me a message if you're interested.

I was at work and refreshing the page endlessly. In the end the only tickets were seated so I bought from ebay.

The massive respect thing was good.

You are a good person for selling it them at cost price.

Should make sense.

Not that I am really considering doing it but, just out of interest really, has anyone ever purchased a ticket from one of the dodgy touts that you get outside train/tube stations/venues? How much over the face value do they generally ask for a ticket (using the Pulp ticket price of £27.00 as an example)?

Leo - It depends on the demand and the amount of tickets they have. I wouldn't expect to pay below 60 quid for this one from a tout. You can get them from ebay and the like for 50 quid so I'd cut my losses now if I were you.

Definitely. That's what I did. It's a bit of a gamble on ebay as prices will get higher as people get more desperate. Only at the last minute is it possible to pay close to or below face value and that may not happen anyway. Go now!)

Yeah, I did while walking from Brixton station to the Academy for Suede's Dog Man Star show in May. The guy (''geezer'' probably describes him more aptly) was calling out he had tickets for sale and my sister and her boyfriend wanted to come at the last minute but it was sold out so I asked to see how much he was selling them for. He said £50 each (face value £32 I think), I said I'd have to ring her to see if she fancied paying that much (I already had two tickets so just needed one more) but I told him she probably wouldn't. We walked on to the venue chatting a bit and he said ''I tell you what mate, I'll give it ya for forty''. I rang my sister, she said that was fair enough so I paid him.

Spent the next hour waiting for her to arrive. I was worrying about the ticket as it had a different type-set and font to the ''legit'' ones I had collected from the ticket office earlier. I decided to try it out while waiting as the queue was beginning to swell. Got to the entrance, held out the ticket for it to be scanned by one of the attendants and a loud alarm noise came from the scanner. ''Shit!'' I thought. Some burly security guy led me to the ticket collections window and they asked me where I had bought the ticket. I showed them the genuine ones I had bought myself and the woman said that the one from the tout hadn't come from the same source. I said I hadn't bought the dud, my friend had, who I was waiting for. I knew they would show no mercy to buying from touts. She told me I wouldn't be able to enter with it. Feeling conned, I went back outside, rang my sister to tell her that her trip was going to be a wasted one. She finally arrives and says ''Don't worry Eamonn. I met this kind man on the way who said he'd sell us a ticket for face value''. I glanced over and to my disbelief the same tout as before stood there bold as brass, looking ever bit the dodgy chancer, shaven-headed and ear pierced.

'You cheeky f-er! That one you sold me was a dud!'' I said.

He started saying something along the lines of ''Calm down mate. Listen, I buy and sell tickets all the time, so if I've sold-on a dodgy one it's cos I was sold it meself. D'ya get me?''

''Well there's no way I'm gonna let her buy another one off you.''

''Alright mate, look. Take this ticket (he opened an envelope with a few more tickets enclosed)..and see if it works. I'll stay here with your sister and her fella and you queue up.''

Still feeling pissed-off I went back to the queue, held out the new ticket to the scanner and it worked! Looked over to my sister at the barrier and waved her up and in the end it worked out ok. Still paid the cheeky tout 40 quid for a 32 pound ticket after he caused all that hassle but it could have been a lot worse!

The touts are canny...there's no shortage of them outside the academy in Brixton but even with a fair few coppers outside spot-checking that people aren't selling tickets, they manage to evade them.

See tickets still haven't sent tickets, so with everyone on or about to go on holiday, back to the shambles of meeting people on the night who get held up at work/on trains etc.   Not really that helpful having the bank holiday that weekend either Shame there were no e-tickets on the pre-sale, I could have just sent them by email.

to make matters worse... i went to that gig and i had a spare (physical ticket) which i couldn't shift for love nor money! ended up selling to a tout for a tenner!

Indeed! I'm on holiday the week before the gigs and arrive back in London on the Tuesday. I may have to head back north just to pick up my tickets for the 31st then head straight back to London if they don't arrive before I go away.

Hello everyone
I'm new on here too. We have tickets for Thursday standing but due to an unavoidable clash I can't do that night now. Would anybody fancy swapping for Wednesday night tickets? Four for preference but three would be amazing.
Thanks to any kind souls out there. I had to miss Wireless at the last minute as well so will be gutted if I can't go to this one too!

ETA: They are physical tickets, so would be able to swap face to face (if that's reassuring as I have no standing here)

Luckily I live in London, so don't have that hassle, but I can guarantee someone will be saying they can't make it and can I get rid of the ticket.  At least when I give them the ticket they have to do it.  Don't understand why tickets can't be sent out a month before, especially in holiday season.

I am seriously considering taking a risk and getting one for the second night from a tout on the day. I may be wrong, but I get the impression it will be cheaper than ebay as people will be more keen to shift any spares the closer to the time it gets. And there is probably an equal risk of getting sold a fake on ebay?

For anyone who ordered from See Tickets and is worried about getting their tickets on time: I was able to get them to switch my tickets to Will Call (I think) instead of having the tickets sent through the mail. Since I'm in the US there was no way those tickets were getting here before I leave for London, especially since it seems that tickets STILL haven't been sent out...

How are people getting on with receiving tickets booked through SeeTickets? I had an email from them a week or so ago saying that there was a delay in receiving the tickets from the promoter and that they would be sent out as soon as they had them in hand, but still no sign. Assuming there must be plenty of people in this situation...? If not, then maybe I need to start asking questions soon! :S
