He is doing signings. Will be seeing him at Manchester Town Hall in...a few days, I think! Might try and smuggle something else along to get signed, too.
But I believe he's doing readings and answering questions, too.
And yes, I hope there are lyric anecdotes in the book, too. Or, like the George Harrison one from years ago, present facsimiles of the original scrawled lyrics (backs of envelopes, hotel writing paper, etc.)
If there's no books to be bought and signed at Cheltenham I hope he at least brings his guitar along! I wonder if Faber will have him do any press for the book . Watching Shaun Ryder (his new autobiog - ghostwritten obviously, is just out) on that Adrian Chiles ITV thing was quite bemusing.
What format would we like to see? I don't see any need to print the entire lyrics of a song. I'd like
To see long excerpts, accompanied by two or three paragraphs about the lyrics or any stories behind them, maybe some examples of alternative versions of the lyrics that didn't make the final song and perhaps some choice photos and imagery to accompany it all.
It would probably be better if not all the song lyrics were printed considering the book is only around 2OO pages long - I'd imagine over half of that would be lyrics if this was the case. Not sure how many songs will be included though but if it is a sort of unofficial autobiography using songs to represent an era of his life and then talking about the real events that happened to him which are reflected in the lyrics, you could almost have a chapter per song. Maybe that's being optimistic though and perhaps it will be more an analysis of the lyrics (with hindsight?). Whichever it's selected lyrics so they had better have been selected and not just taking up the majority of the book!
I'm sure the book will be available for the Manchester and Cheltenham events. I hoping to get a signed copy! I have tickets for the latter - a weekend away with my husband to belatedly celebrate our 17th wedding anniversary.

Hopefully if commentary occurs, it'll be with regards to at least some less obvious songs. I don't want to read what Common People is about. Again. I got enough of that with the Common People documentary...
