Pulp are set to play as special guests on The Park stage at Glastonbury festival tonight (June 25) and warmed up with a special London show last night.
The band played a gig at St Martins College yesterday the institution singer Jarvis Cocker used to attend and mentioned in his lyrics to Pulps hit Common People. They will play The Park at the Somerset bash at 7:45pm (BST) this evening Radiohead played as special guests on the same stage last night.
Last night at St Martin's the returning band played a short set including Disco 2000, Common People, Sorted For Es & Wizz and Bar Italia. Tickets for the show werent sold to the public and were only available to staff, alumni and some graduating students. The gig was their first non-festival UK show since 2002.
It kind of amazes me how they were willing to set up equipment in London last night and then get it all to Glasto today, so that means Jarvis wasn't in Glasto yesterday as reported, must have travelled this morning.

A combo of market forces, Candida and Nick saying that more gigs are likely and that they are enjoying the shows so far. All those songs they've rehearsed, they'll want to make use of all the non-hits that won't be played at the festivals.
My friend who was there says terrible acoustics and short set but it was great all the same. The gig was for staff, alumni and a few graduates and many, like my friend, are massive pulp fans. I don't imagine they were paid. I think it's very sweet of them.

shame that it was not open to the public, but on the plus side it seems very likely that they will be doing more concerts as opposed to festivals sometime in the near future (hopefully!) : smaller crowds of people who just want to see pulp definitely beats masses of people taking up space near the stage to see another band
