Some of you might know that in my spare time, I run a little label called Sturdy Records. Recently we've been working with a fantastic band from Leeds called The Wind-Up Birds and I thought some of you might want to have a listen.

The new single 'Meet Me at the Depot' isn't out till June 27 but you can have a listen here (along with all their previous stuff). It's a bit more spiky than most Pulp stuff, perhaps more in line with Art Brut or The Fall, but if you like decent lyrics and northern accents then I think you may very well find it to be your cup of tea.

They're playing a few gigs later this month - Wakefield Play Patterns on the 11th, London Wilmington Arms on the 17th, and Leeds Nation of Shopkeepers on the 22nd. Come along and say hello if you're around!

I really like this Mark! Very Television Personalities. I'll definitely be purchasing this when I have funds. Also are you going to the B&S gig in Leeds on friday? I was on the event page on Fb and I'm sure I saw your name at the side, unless it was another Mark Sturdy!

Just a cheeky bump for this thread as I'm releasing The Wind-up Birds' debut album, The Land, next Monday 14th May. There will be a launch gig at the Brudenell this Friday. Exciting times.

See the WUBs' Bandcamp for tunes and suchlike; album won't be on there till Monday but there's a teaser single, Cross Country, up at the moment along with lots of older stuff.

Oh and here's the video for Cross Country:

Leeds launch gig May 29th at Wharf Chambers: https://www.facebook.com/events/721266804604324/

London launch gig May 27th at 12 Bar: https://www.facebook.com/events/638466279540445

Have a listen, it's good, you'll like it.
