They need to play it in the States. It's one of their most popular songs here.

Well, they are on stage now. Following the search term "Pulp" on Twitter is a painful experience right now.

Yeah, tell me about it - I have a friend who was there. I wanted him to report back to me on Twitter with details as they were happening, but I guess he may have had better things to be doing.

Selfish, if you ask me!

Poor Kate!  http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2008275/Dont-know-I-Kate-Moss-turned-away-Pulps-surprise-Glastonbury-set.html?

Great close-up pics of each member of Pulp on the DrownedInSound site (I presume the second pic is Mr Abrahams?)

Information-light but 5 star review from (guess?) The Guardian of the Glastonburn Performance. Wasn't gonna post it save for this gem:

"And, of course, Common People, the song they first played at Glastonbury in 1995 when years of hard work had earned them overnight success." - not sure if that's meant to be trite or just plain odd... I'll try not to be cynical here, and say "Hah!"

Yep. that's Leo Abrahams. Mark looks a bit unwell. And he still can't get his hair right. Bless.

Do you think they played "Like a Friend" because of Gwyneth Paltrow?

It's a crying shame that the BBC didn't broadcast the 'secret' Pulp set.

At least we got Mis-Shapes from BBC 6Music. Maybe there is more in the vaults?

Love how Jarvis steals the show at the end, while Mark is playing the lead guitar.

Fantastic Common People footage! Wish I'd been there but I'll be at Wireless.

Like a Friend sounded great, hope they play it again. Interesting to hear Jarvis after Common People saying "who knows, maybe five?" when talking about their fourth Glastonbury appearance. I have a feeling they would have been happy to play a headline slot this year but were probably just too late with the comeback.

Jarvis said something on the lines of that the song was a B-side and also that Mark had pointed it out to Jarvis that it was also from a not very good American film that Gwyneth Paltrow was in and that she might be here because Coldplay are playing aren't they?... To which there was no response to the crowd and Jarvis said something cheekily like "Oh, nobody seems to be bothered about Coldplay then... I'll just have to come up with my own stuff to say between songs from now on! It was Mark who told me to say it!"

Wow. That is all I can say. No, it's not actually. I'll say some more.

I checked the NME website furiously throughout Saturday morning and finally, there it was, confirmed. Pulp were to play the Park.

Fortunately, the cracking pre-Pulp line-up of Those Dancing Days (ok), Graham Coxon (spellbinding), the Walkmen (gloriously like lemon juice on a wound. In a good way) and fey but pretty Tama Impala ensured that we could get to the stage for 2:30 and stay throughout without worrying we were missing anything good elsewhere. And so we came to front-row centre which is only slightly less favourable than in front of Russell.

The crowd was *enormous* - bigger than for Radiohead even, *and* the Pulp people stayed. Radiohead people didn't. Pulp played hit after hit after hit...and Like a Friend. Which was just sublime. Jarvis stated it would be the first and last time they'd play it. Russell took a few songs off, but added some furious guitar to Sunrise, and generally looked wonderful throughout. Steve has a portrait in his attack, and Candida - although she's aged - still looks very pretty. Clearly not in amazing health though, poor thing.

The gig was pretty much the best gig I've ever sat through. The atmosphere was electric, the crowd were great, the band were amazing, and the bunch of mis-shapes and misfits triumphed once again.
